Richardson... Another gator bust

QBs are the hardest to evaluate, from 4-5* high school kids moving up to major college ball to first-second round picks in the NFL. There are probably more busts than success stories, maybe a lot more.

GMs and scouts get too wrapped up in workouts, physical marvels, or sometimes college statistics. They need a QB and work to convince themselves their player is 'their guy'. Or they don't want to be the GM that passed on Marino, Favre, Lamar, or Mahomes.

No other explanation for drafting an average-at-best college QB with 13 college starts with the 4th overall pick.

Does anyone have the video of the Kentucky players calling him hotdog water? I thought there was a video.
Really defines the whole program and pairs well with Katie's famous mayo and Mac

I remember watching him against Utah and he played well. I thought the Gators maybe had something with him. But the rest of the time I watched him, the accuracy was so off. Lots of high passes. Not too much touch.

If you look at how QBs are drafted, 5 is probably fair because everyone overrates QBs. But no way he's a starting NFL qb. I watched him against my Phins a couple weeks ago and wow was he bad.

He went 17 for 24 for 168 yards and 0 TDs. Not sure what you saw.

Okay, they said that about Manning in his first year with the colts
No idea who "they" were but there is no comparison. Richardson 50% completion and .7 TDs per game. Manning in year one complete d57% and threw 1.5 TDs per game. And the 1998 colts talent wasn't remotely as good as the 2024 colts.

Watch Flacco and you'll see what an average nfl qb can do with colts lineup

The guy could throw it far and do backflips. That’s what got the attention. His last year at Florida he barely completed over 50% of his passes and had 9 interceptions with 17 tds. He could run it pretty well. That was it.

A more horrible draft take than even Jamarcus Russell.

I don't know if I want to argue with you because you'll respond with a manifesto but you left out the 11 carries for 106 yards and 3 TDs which included the game winning TD with less than 2 minutes left.

In any event, it was game 1 of a new season as a first-time, full time starter and he played like his best football was ahead of him. Unfortunately for him, it didn't materialize.

It's not that I left it off, it's that it means a lot less in the NFL.

Recheck what you posted. You said that the rest of the games in which you watched him, his accuracy was off. You didn't say anything about running, which is why I focused on passing and was critical of one of his "better" games throwing the ball as...not great...

That's just reality. The best NFL QBs who can "run" are also far better passers than AR-15. So if he can't pass and he gets so "tired" after scrambling that he has to pull himself out of the game...

how many interceptions did Manning have his first year, and how many games did he played in?

Yes two for Richardson and he has regressed from first year.
there are a lot of young NFL qbs being benched early on in their career. richardson was hurt last year and being already raw, got hurt again and now benched. you have to be game ready from day 1 with the way rookie contracts work. Tua should be next on the chopping block

Richardson hasn't had enough experience, lacks professional maturity and is struggling with the details of qb play in the NFL. In college you can get buy on athleticism the pros is the direct opposite. His mindset has to be not to let Flacco get 1 snap in a football game instead of tapping out and sending the wrong message to his team. Next time line up and hand the ball off.
