Richards will be back for the Orange bowl correct?

Orange bowl is meaningless. Would rather be comes back healthy and focused next year. Puts up 1000+ yards and goes first round

No. It’s not.

The Orange bowl is huge . We need momentum going into next season. I will even say if we beat Wisconsin I would bet we make the playoffs but if we going into next season with a 3 game losing streak it makes it much harder. The most important bowl game that wasn't a championship game that UM has ever played in was the Gator Bowl against GT in 99 as it set up that great 00-02 run and gave us confidence heading into 00'. I remember sitting in the stands on New Year's day watching that game thinking this was the beginning of a run and it was.

I attended that Georgia Tech game. That's why I always know where I was at the turn of the millennium. Mostly I remember that Purdue and Drew Brees blew a 25-0 lead against Georgia in the Outback Bowl that was going on simultaneously. Good for me because I had Georgia +7 and money line. They ended up winning, 28-25.

That game fit the higher rated underdog from preseason ratings, as evidenced here: 1999 Preseason Consensus

Anyway, the Canes outclassed Georgia Tech with our running backs and defense, even if Dorsey didn't have the greatest day.

Wikipedia has a ridiculous score for that game, BTW. Somebody can fix it if they want to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Gator_Bowl

I would argue that Miami's two most important non-championship games were the final regular season games of 1983. We barely escaped East Carolina and Florida State with late scores. Take away either result and who knows how the program evolves without that 1983 Nebraska game and title.

Depends on the type and severity of the tear. A complete tear (Derek Rose) and your out for 6 months. A small tear that can be shaved off and usually 2-4 weeks for full go.

I'd rather not jeopardize next year's title shot where Richards will be a big factor on essentially an exhibition against Wisky. Is what it is

Keep Richards in the off season strength program all winter he needs to live in the gym ahead of his money year

You convinced me. We should forfeit the Orange Bowl.

Better yet, from now on, any year we don’t make the playoffs, any bowl pretentious enough to offer us a spot, we should just reply with a photocopy of our ***. Have another one Ricky Bobby.

Oy vey...

I wonder if Richards will ever be the same. Sometimes those knee injuries cause you to lose a step even when you've recovered.

Good thing we have Pope coming in.

Not true. Very important to finish with a win, especially after that beat down and horrible Pitt game. Recruiting is at stake plus attitude.

I never thought he meant “the Orange Bowl game” was meaningless, only that it was meaningless in terms of Richards needing to play in it. I agree with that. Richards, coming off surgery, is not needed, and shouldn’t be needed.

Orange Bowl is important for righting the 2-loss listing that Miami has taking on; smooth sailing to the CFP next year with a win against Wisconsin in a few weeks.

Richards soph year =‘s Coley’s

You are way wrong sir...

Coley had 23 catches for 184 with ZERO TD's. He averaged 8 yrds. per catch.
Richards had 24 catches for 439 yards with 3 TD's. He averaged 18.29 per catch...

Richards is in a WHOLE different class! He is our best receiver and will lead our team in receptions and yards next year. We should not jeopardize his health at this point. He should use this time to recover.

That is certainly a more refined way of putting it. One that, upon challenge, the poster did not explain. “Orange Bowl is meaningless”, and “an exhibition against Wisky”, have a rather different meaning than what you explained. Richards is not going to play in the game, but not because the game doesn’t matter. It does matter, quite a bit. Opportunities to play at this level are rare and should not be marginalized.

Go Canes!

They were both huge disappointments as sophs after great frosh campaigns. I was not comparing the two players skillsets. Gimme a break.

Agree.
We spent 7 weeks being ranked in the top-10.
I want to finish there.

Edit:
Don't think the OB is meaningless.
Don't want Richards coming back.

Getting back on the winning side of things is important. I don't think we'll have the same type of deer in the headlights performance for this game because we're coming off playing in a big game. We've got some issues on offense to address, but I expect Norton and McIntosh to play extremely well. This will be their last opportunity to impress scouts, if indeed they are planning to turn pro.

If it's a little cartilage clean up, guys come back from that in a week. He might just want to shut it down and hit the reset button for next year.
