Rewatching the Pinstripe Bowl from 2023…

Was Aaron Donald a “tweeter”? 6’1” 280 and will be a first ballot HOFer.

Aaron Donald, really? That’s the guy you want to use, the outlier, freak of nature, the DT that ran a 4.68 which broke the record for the fastest 40 time by a DT at the time.

Of course. He’s a tweeter. Bain also is a freak of nature. Probably won’t have the same career as Aaron Donald because Bain doesn’t want to play inside, but he’s still a tweeter. Maybe he becomes the Aaron Donald of DEs. You didn’t really expect me to pick someone like Thomas Gore now, did you? This is still CiS after all.

I chose AD because he played extremely fast with great hands and knew how to use his shortness as an asset…kinda like Bain. And because I knew it would pișz off a few people. 😊

Bain isn’t close to Aaron Donald. AD was a freak of nature within the NFL himself, top percentile athlete. Bain isn’t as quick, doesn’t naïve laterally like him, and not as fast. The AD of DE is funny 😂😂. Why not just use a player who actually plays DE to make your comparison?

… rewatching Pinstripe Bowl

Hard to be a productive edge when you end up out leveraged outside on most plays because the defense can’t adjust to formations. I’ll need to go back and watch more closely but it seems like the rush path took the ends inside way too often

The lesson from the Pinstripe Bowl was the same as the lesson from GT and any other team with a decent run game—we need dudes who can play at DT.

You new around these parts?
Did you expect me to compare him to Thomas Gore?
I get it but he’s closer to Thomas gore than Donald. I don’t believe he can win consistently off the edge and don’t believe he’s physical enough to play inside…. If you’re going to be undersized and play inside you have to have an elite something and based on two years of film he doesn’t have any elite traits.

We did him no favors last year. Guidry was often asking him to take on blocks which blew my mind… but even when he was allowed to get up field and play to his strengths it was okay disruption. Maybe it was the injury but I’m not of the opinion it was. He’s the model definition of tweener

Ok, let me dumb this down for you since you missed it twice. I was making fun of you and your "tweeter" post/comment. AD was simply the pawn I used. It's "tweener" meaning "in between." I'm not an encyclopedia of short and great DT's of the post 2000's, so I chose a name that most would recognize. So rather than picking apart the comparison, why don't you learn the difference between a tweeter and a tweener? Or proof read? Or both?

You can also acknowledge that I already said that Bain likely won't have an Aaron Donald NFL career - "Bain also is a freak of nature. Probably won’t have the same career as Aaron Donald because Bain doesn’t want to play inside, but he’s still a tweeter. Maybe he becomes the Aaron Donald of DEs. You didn’t really expect me to pick someone like Thomas Gore now, did you? " is exactly what I wrote. "Maybe he becomes the Aaron Donald of DEs" is hyperbole, something that makes CiS fun, because it's a dumb exaggerative comment intended for laughter.

As I just told the numbskull that used the word "tweeter," I chose Donald for hyperbole. Aaron Donald was a simple choice because he was an undersized overachiever who's about the same size as Bain - that's why I chose him. And to break the other dude's huevos.

No way he's closer to Gore than Donald, but I'll gladly concede he's not Aaron Donald. I don't agree with your take that the injury wasn't what caused the regression (for lack of a better word). He missed four games and hardly played in a fifth (UF). Rehabbing a lower injury during the season is a tough ask. He seemed to do just fine winning off the edge and playing inside his freshman year (although he gets the edge at DE, no pun intended). Did he just forget how to play last year? Was it Guidry's fault? The same Guidry who was the DC Bain's freshman year? I have to work today and I don't feel like arguing this point anymore, so if you need to claim victory, go for it. We can split the winner's check later. I'm also not attacking you.

lol, tweeter vs tweener, a 1 letter difference… obviously auto correct caused it. And u talking about proof reading. U sound lame af.

“Don’t pick apart the comparison”, isn’t good football talk about analyzing and critical thinking? You just admitted u actually didn’t analyze or use critical thinking skills before u commented 😂. If Bain wants to not move inside that’s cool, then he needs to focus on his body, which further proves my point. stop with the tweener shii, and trying to play DE at close to 280, Shii is not good for his development and what he will be doing at the next level.

Regarding his freshman performance and him coming off the edge and how it worked. That’s cool doesn’t mean anything considering the goal is to get better every year. It probably was the injury, but even Bain said he has focused on losing a little weight which again further proves my point about him being a tweener. Being 280 does not benefit him in anyway, bc it slows him down on the edge and it is not quite big enough at DT unless he has insane quickness like AD, which he doesn’t.

Not sure on the logic. Rutgers is a physical football team, it’s a good barometer. He also dominated Clemson. Made their OT cry and quit.
Rutgers should NEVER be a good barometer for the University of Miami football team... it was our first loss to them ... ever... Quite the milestone.

If you can't laugh at yourself over silliness, we can't be friends.

Bye

Think he has a huge year at end. Don't get the pessimism about him. He got hurt, missed like half the season, then had to play a ton of snaps for a short bus DC when his conditioning had gone to ****. Bullish on Bain. Expect him to wreck games again.

It's his $$$ year too. Chance to move up draft boards.

The Bain barometer is not his freshman year. He had a few good games, and got completely neutralized with zero stats in some games.

For us to be a legit defense, he needs to have a big impact. Same with Mesidor.

Same impact and stats as guys getting drafted.

To me this is more of an implication of Jason Taylor and Mario. Rolling with 2 DTs as your main DEs in year 4 isn't a good look, and IMO is not the formula for winning games.

Injury, too heavy, overall struggles with the defensive front.

I think Hetherman will be good for Bain. He can just focus on beating the man in front of him. His knockback power is
One thing about Bain is his motor imo thats his best trait! Last year he was banged up. You could tell he wasnt the same FB player he was the year before. Hopefully hes back and 100% sounds like he is. Expect a BIG year best player on Defense AA type ****!
