That’s why I was surprised when people were OK no spring portal. We hit back to back years there.
Yeah Martinez/Barrow/Brown/Baron on paper looked pretty good for a bit. Still two of our most important players last year

Something Lance said as well about Toure/Scott/Thomas being perfect fits for Heathermans defense was notable. So far so good there

I am all for the one transfer window, but I did want it to be the later one after camp so kids kinda know where they stand and you arent worried about negotiating NIL deals in the middle of a playoff run, seems unfair to the school and the kids (even a kid who is maybe on the bench of a playoff school and wants to transfer will get a ton of heat for leaving during said playoff run)

but selfishly I dont like it because I feel like spring was when Mario and Co. have done major damage the last two years.

Yep. I was in wait & see mode at best & worried at worst. Not knowing how Heatherman was going to impact the defense was a major factor in that for me as well
With Heatherman I knew a lot more about him than Guidry but still obviously keeping things in perspective. So far so good. Another big test in two weeks

I was very critical of the spring portal haul before we landed Toure, Scott and Thomas (and candidly was still disappointed in it after getting those guys (mostly because of WR and DT)), but there have been a lot of hits out of that group thus far. Have to tip your cap to the staff, excellent work.

These players we took in the Spring portal are by no means superstars. They are tough, blue collar types who go to work everyday with a lunch pail and a hard hat.

PS. I wasn't planning on writing the above but your gif inspired me.

Idk about spring portal, but even though Beck has been good so far, I think it's decently safe to say Going with Mendoza for less money was the right call. Would have likely helped with locking up portal WR. And just plainly more money to spread around and maybe get another DT and safety - or just more for HS...
