If the croquetas are better at La Finca, I need to try them. I will try to stop by in a few weeks.

I thought Islas Canarias' were great, but I'm not trying to engage in croqueta debates, lol
The croquetas are better (if fresh), but as a restaurant, La Finca is better food (cuban/korean fusion)

Isla Canarias is their traditional Cuban food. The one on Bird and 137 is the better of 2 locations. Finka is a “trendier” and it’s a fusion restaurant of Cuban, Asian and Peruvian food
Love Peruvian food....their Chicken is beyond ridiculously good.

Not gonna recommended anything fancy around there but Sub City for subs, Tony the Pizza Chef 2 for pizza, Captain Jerk for Jamaican food, and Derry’s for breakfast.

All of these places within 10 min and verified by me.

Lorna's across the street from the stadium

Miramar- Blue Ginger, El Churassaco, The Licking (DJ KHALED, POE BOY)

We Shucking- Pembroke Pines near Taft street , can ride douglas down to the stadium.

Crafty Crab- Carol City near stadium

The Juicy Crab Pembroke PInes

Breakfast small spot on Pembroke Road DERRY'S RESTAURANT

He means non-chain food
Aventura does have a lot of places that aren't chain orientated but yea I hear ya... After the fact he mentioned he wanted stuff near Miramar so that goes way west from where I was putting him...

Owned by the same family, Finka croquetas are the same recipe (they even advertise them as Islas Canarias croquetas). Finka food is way better though

Tell me more. Is this like an oyster house? Surprised I’ve never heard of it, I still go to Pines once in a while.

Not at all, it's down the block from Islas Canarias

Thanks man. I googled it. Then edited my post. Appreciate the background info. I'm a foodie. I love traveling and doing stuff like this.

If I'm in St. Louis, I'll eat fried ravioli
If i'm in Texas, I'll eat BBQ
If I'm in Miami, I'll eat croquetas, ropa vieja, etc.

You get the idea. For such a diverse city, I want to expand on that, though. NGL Miami has more to offer.

Let's see...

To me Islas Canarias Croquetas are good but I was a bit underwhelmed due to all the hype I heard about them.

The Cuban sandwich though was top notch and one of the best I ever had in my life. (And that is saying a lot since I have had many from various spots.)
