Remembering a big, strong, tough QB who had to start midway through his freshman year

I think he's going to be as good...considering who we play the rest of the yr.
If he can maintain this level of play for the rest of the season we'll win out. The more he plays the more film is going to be on him though. Coaches are going to try and catch up to him. It'll be up to Lashlee to keep him out front.

I am expecting him to get better each week.

Kid has been better than anyone imagined. Hopefully he avoids the seemingly inevitable hiccup game cause with this D we can’t afford it.

Jim is my favorite, but he was not a world beater at Miami. Different era of football and he was throwing to Larry Brodsky and Stanley Shakespeare, but his signature has his toughness. He did not become the gunslinger until he played for Mouse Davis.

I love this kid. He has a confidence and swagger we have not seen for a generation.

What held him back was he was afraid to make a mistake. A lot of young guys would have folded after the interception at the end of the UNC game.

We will see but you have to be encouraged with his arm talent and his ability to hit the right guy.

I remember what Howard said about Bernie. He throws to the right guy 85% of the time. Bernie's mechanics were awkward at times, too.

😂😂😂😂 I need to know what you put in to get this

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but he IS a freshman and a few bad games are probably a comin.

Just so we don't get too high or too low with him this season.
Great point that will be lost.

If he can avoid interceptions I think his low points will be ones that we can survive because he will have high points even in his lesser games. He is that good.

Kelly also had Howard Schnellenberger calling the shots—a man with a vision to turn college football on its collective ear—which he did over the next five seasons, locking down South Florida talent in a way that Georgia and Alabama spend huge money to do so now.

The 2021 Hurricanes have that fraud Manny Diaz calling the shots—egotistically wanting to run the defense this season (a beta move to avoid bringing in an alpha to run the defense while he learns to play CEO)—and that side of the ball is a complete abortion.

If not for TVD's 800 yards, seven touchdowns and one pick the past two games, Diaz is 2-6 and would've been fired yesterday.

In short, this program has bigger issues than whether TVD—after a handful of starts and the best football of his life—will ever be able to hold Jim Kelly's jockstrap.

Beyond that, comparing players of different eras is as pointless a sports exercise as exists. Enough already.

Jesus man take it easy & maybe pump the brakes a lil bit

relax there house.

I am simply pointing to some commonality, not saying he's a hall of fame QB. I'm comparing them as they were as FRESHMEN IN COLLEGE. There are similarities, at that point in time, is all I'm saying. I'm not comparing TVD to Jim Kelly the NFL HOF QB.

holy context, batman.
