Remember this guy...

No due to the pandemic and the open of restrictions in transfers the portal was choc full of talent the last 2 years where you could live off of it.

Again i have to keep telling you you are wrong with it....The Mississippi schools live historically off of Juco talent or shall we say THE PORTAL. Their state aint producing enough talent to support the 2 big schools in state. He aint doing nothing different than whats normal for a school like Ole Miss. Ole Miss had a top 25 class last year without factoring the portal. I hate have to be defending a sorry *** sec school but thinking Lane Kiffin cant recruit is crazy.

I like my Cristobal returns and you were right on him...but i already knew he was a beastly recruiter. I was unsure how his staff would look....once i seen who he got...i jumped on board. Mario 4 life!!! lol
I’ll respectfully disagree with the first part but **** ya Mario 4 life! Perfect fit let’s get it.

Is it wrong of me to read everything you write in Prop Joe's voice? If it is I dont want to be right.

Lane is a fine coach. He’d have done well here.

If you wanted him over Mario Cristobal, you should be forced to be an Ole Miss fan.
Nearly half the board did because of knee jerk reactions to the Utah losses and because Lane had a QB that caught fire and I guess dudes figured he did replicate that with TVD, as if he was gonna stick around well beyond next season.

You are a very fair and honest poster, both in your assessments and analysis.

I do believe that reliance on the Portal is problematic, you just don't get enough impact players who can contribute for four years. Fortunately for Ole Miss (and a few other schools), the NCAA has removed the IC limits for the next couple of cycles.

I am not disagreeing with you that Ole Miss pursues the Portal hard, I just don't think that's an approach that would pay the same dividends at Miami, thus Lane Train was not gonna be a good fit at Miami for many, many reasons.
Naw. Im saying The Lain Train wouldve recruited at a high level at UM.

He would be a notch or two below Mario...But he would land unreal talent out of high school here.

But that has sailed and hopefully we got our guy for a next decade.

Yea man i was shocked when i saw they had a Team recruiting ranking of 23.

That was without factoring the transfer portal guys which they landed a ton of 4 star types.

Ole Miss should be competitive again this year hopefully they upset one of the big dogs in the sec west so we can get more Lane trolling..preferably Bama.

many people on this board were on the Lane Train last year and didn't want Mario.
that train has derailed quickly.
We made the right hire by a several miles!
Listen, I love Lane (clearly) and I love Mario. We made a great hire, and Lane is going to do great things at Ole Miss, in my opinion. He killed it in the portal, and it’s July.

Both can have major success at each program. I love Lane’s offense and believe he would’ve done great here. There’s no need to be petty like this. If we’re having success, who cares?

I like Lane Kiffin as a coach. In another world where Mario wasn’t available, I’d take him in a heartbeat. But in terms of the long term health of our program. We got the right guy for the job. Mario wants to build long term success and make Miami the most talented program in college football again. He wants to be our Saban. Lane would likely have done really well here and bolted for an NFL job after three really solid years.
