Reilly Gibbons to Stanford

Why disappointed in the staff if his family said he was solid and not taking anymore visits?

Because when a kid has been committed for 9 months+ I expect them to sign with us. Idc that gibbons said it has nothing to Miami. If you told Gibbons a good enough pitch, he would've said no to Stanford because it was too late and he would've signed with Miami.

Are his parents lawyers or something along those lines?
I don't think a "pitch" would have kept him committed to UM.
Basically, he is going to a better school, academically, and right now their football program is superior to ours.
No brainer.
I do agree it's still a byitch move to do this late in the recruiting cycle, especially if our coaches didn't
know they took the visit to Stanford.

So the parents were going force him to Stanford? In that case why didn't he go to Duke which was one of his finalists?

Stanford has a better team than us and Duke. That obviously had to play in to his decision

But if the move was solely on education he would've taken duke for the jump. Regardless I'm just ****ed off at our recruiting down the stretch and how people justify every **** loss

The staff stopped recruiting Nigel. That wasn't a loss.

You know it's bad when the staff members have had it with the staff.

I haven't had it with the staff. Coley is the one keeping this class somewhat relevant, though.

Pete, I don't know if you can answer this question or not, but internally, do some feel that Golden has mentally "checked out" of Miami because he had his heart set on the Penn State gig and didn't get it?

Has nothing to do with him "checking out". He is who is.

A bum.

The last SAT time was last weekend. Stanford was probably waiting on his SAT score before offering him admission.

what does that have to do with months of telling the staff you're not looking around, taking visits or waiting on scores to see if you get admitted to Stanford?

Nothing. Just pointing it out.

I'd take every guy we're in the running for on NSD over Gibbons. OL is our biggest strength. Nigel was a bigger loss.

Lol, how would Pete know the answer to that?

Pete,

This is probably a really stupid question, so I apologize in advance. But with us losing five (?) recruits since Al flirted with PSU and it seeming unlikely that we have any pleasant surprises looming for NSD, do you think we'll fill spots with low upside JAGs that will make everyone furious or will we save several scholies as a result of the 9 over 3 NCAA ruling and hope to bounce back next year?

What does that mean?

Since Coley seems to be the only member of the staff getting anything done on the recruiting trail, every other coach better be frantically baking more motherf***king cookie cakes to our current commits to show them how badly we need them.

Cookies, motherf***er! Do :neonu: want one?

Now THIS ^^^^^^ is how you deal with bad news like this. ******* humor. It GREAT to be a Miami Hurricane, but **** for the last ten years it's freaking sucked also.

An OL who are staff thought was good enough to get an offer a year ago? Yeah, no big deal.

The problem is people say this after every decommitment. At a certain point, the "little losses" add up

That would make sense given what you published in this:

Don't want to put words in your mouth, but my feeling after reading this is that he's the only one truly respected among Miami staff members.

We better get some ******* good surprises.

I'm sick and tired of this bull****.

******* close already......and not on Treon, either.

Its warren sapps fault he called up his old Tampa connections and screwed us before signing day somebody wake me when golden is fired

Them visions man them visions

You alright Black Vern. I'm a positive guy and you're a Bleak Visions kind of guy, but SMDH at clowns that have tried to say you're a troll or not a Cane. And Bleak Visions has been too damned accurate for too damned long.

Not the end of the world. We have a good o line class coming in. Rather have Wyche than Gibbons. Losing Wyche would had been ******* awful..... Gibbons, not so much... all good.

With the way everyone bashes player development and the ability to find talent, then you're right this isn't a big deal.

You can't fight both sides of the war.
