First. Merry Christmas to everyone at CIS and prosperous and Happy New Year. Meanwhile one week out from surgery I felt great, no pain, free movement and then Physical Therapy started. Now 2 and 1/2 weeks out I fell horrible. I don't think a physical therapist should be allowed to touch me yet they push my knee (the new one of course) beyond what is reasonable. I now hurt all the time and pain management is non-existent. I haven't posted as the time it is taking me to post this has me in extreme pain... so please pray my physical therapy is a remedy not a horror show. Thank You

Did you stay at a holiday inn express last night to come up with your expert take on how rehab should be?

Ok I’m ****ed off for you. Doesn’t sound right to pretzel your knee just to tick boxes on some form sheet therapy guide.

Get better man and then you can make a triumphant reign of terror return on these boards as only you can. Best holiday wishes!

They have a saying at the Center for Intrepid in San Antonio (where many wounded warriors go)...Suck it up Buttercup! The PT may seem like an evil right now, but doing the PT as scheduled will make things 10x better later on. Embrace the Suck! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

You didn’t hurt for the first week or so because they probably put a block on you ( a little rubber ball ) and when that runs out ( usually takes about 4-5 days after surgery) the pain you thought wasn’t there shows up in spades.

And they have to push your leg beyond what you think is normal because they have to get your leg completely straightened out ( which they will do usually by putting a weight on your knee for 5-10 minutes a session) and they have to get your knee past 90degrees which is why they bend it to the point where you think it will snap.

This is all normal.I warned you this was going to be rough for the first 4-5 weeks but it will get easier but if they don’t do all this ,what you think is torture, you will end up walking with a limp because you can’t straighten out your leg.

Take your pain meds about 15-20 minutes before your session and it will help a lot.You think this is torture but I’ve been through it 3 times and I can assure you if you don’t do the rehab correctly you’ll regret it going forward.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Wrong!!! If those PT don’t push his leg to the point where he thinks it’s unnecessary he will walk with a limp the rest of his life.Pain will start to subside and the rehab will get easier but take it from someone that has been through it 3 time.Do the rehab and do it right. It’s one of the roughest rehabs out there but is necessary.

Get well soon brother! I am 4 weeks post SLAP tear surgery and the first few weeks were awful. Felt useless. Even the "which hand" dad joke when someone asked for a hand didn't hit the same.
