Refs should be investigated

Refs been ******** us since Ohio state championship game. It really is some bs how much they get involved with our plays and turn the other eye with other teams. I can only think of one time it worked in UM favor. corn elder kickoff td is the only call they turned their eye for us that I can think of.

Well, they certainly have an interesting slate to ref this weekend.
Pitt vs ND .. .and ... Clemson at Louisville... not to mention our game (which scares me actually).
That Pitt game at the end of the year could be something as well.

Is there a public data set out there that tracks all calls/penalties for all ACC Refs for every game that a person like me could access? Would be interesting to see how certain OLinemen from other teams have penalty issues constantly then when he plays us he has a perfect game happen to him.

Then again... I do see the negatives something like this could be for some Refs on a personal level.

Been ******** us since decades prior to that, bro.

And the majority of the calls went Duke’s way in that game prior to the Corn Elder TD (watch how they got their last TD). I don’t think they turned their eye, I think they were just so overwhelmed and there was just so much going on, so they just threw up their hands and said **** it. So you can say we got lucky, or you can say karma, or prayers, or whatever. It was the right thing to do since we would have won the game if the refs hadn’t interfered in regulation.

No argument from me

Completely forgot bout Jimmy j having a word about the refs

I bet someone at the U put Manny on that story to shine light on the issue prior to our stretch run. Stories like that often don't get written without some "blessing" from the school.
We must be getting tired of the ACC lack of action.

I wasn’t around prior to the 80s, but for the older-than-me-timers in here…

How did the refs treat us prior to the 80s, when we were nothing? I can’t imagine that we were treated well when we were up against the bigger teams (ND, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc.), but was there a noticeable change once we started winning, or once our team became noticeably darker? I reckon it was because of both and the stigma never left us.

When did the shift happen?

stats.ncaa.org is where I usually get my data, but I haven’t delved into it too much for penalties. You can look and see if it has what you’re looking for. Let me know if you have any questions about using the site as I know my way around it fairly well.

I don't like crying over spilt milk. I don't like pointing at any single situation and saying that right there, that is what cost us xxxxxx.

We lose because we let it get to the point that it mattered, like JJ used to say, take it out of the refs hands.

But when you look at UM opponents are consistently way below their season average on penalties, and you see with your own eyes, it doesn't take a rocket scientist or a statistician to perform complex algorithm analysis on the subject. It is not just the flags thrown against UM, those are the easy ones. It's the ones that are not thrown against our opponents, consistently.

We lost both of those games because UM didn't put themselves in the position to win the game - penalties with standing. That doesn't change the fact that we have to be the prison trick up next in the cell block.

I'm a late 80's baby my self and would love to hear some wisdom from the fellas that lived through it ,but hearing my dad speak and seeing the 30 for 30 as well the internet .

The city of miami,Jimmy ,and the players he recruited were a beautiful match, that attitude and play style wasn't like by many not to mention betting is a strong possibility that's going down strong today.

So my best guess 84 -85 is when the refs played their hand.

Possibly, and that’s what I’m wondering. Howard was the one to start regularly recruiting black players to the team.

But Ray Bellamy was the first black football player at UM in the 1966, and he was the first black football player at any southern state, which was obviously a huge deal (BTW, UM also gave out the first female athletic scholarship to Terry Williams in 1973 after Title IX was enacted.) So did anyone see any impact in officiating after Bellamy and others started playing for us?

Lol most def a big deal in southern state but miami routinely embarrassing notre Dame and talk noise while doing it in the Jimmy era imo shaped how these refs call today.

Its most def happen with calls back then with miami being in the south aswell as up north with ernie davis as we both know.

Miami and Jimmy was definitely different imo The owl is a legend and the architect of UM football..

Jimmy added a lil more sauce imo because he was there at the time and added to what Howard built. Howard wouldve had the same motion as jimmy if he stayed

Same out come ;belt to *** against other teams and bs calls from refs.

We have got to stop with the easy call pre snap penalties it’s too easy for the refs to get easy pulling that yellow flag out on us

Having said that we seem to get zero favorable calls…. Toney gets man handled, Bain is getting choked out, we get ticky tack holding calls… it’s embarrassing
