Been said at nauseum . It's an abomination. I expected 8-9 win season and we will end up with 4 or 5 if we are lucky. It is clear to me from watching this season that:

1. Manny and Richt's players are soft AF. We have heard about gummie breaks, playing video games before a big game, entitlement, and mocking young players who stay for practice working on their craft. We see them taking pictures in gas stations looking like wannabe IG model gangsters and dabbing the opponent as they are getting their asses handed down to them. Despite an offseason of intense work and a season of Mario lighting a fire on their ***, it seems these mental midgets keep quitting at the first sign of adversity. They are not responding well to Mario's no-nonsense style, and are quitting on him tuning him out. Even today Mario hinted at their soft mentality about players not willing to do what it takes ( getting up at 4/5 am in the morning and outworking opponents, or not mentally strong enough when the lights come on).

2. With that being said, coaches have not put the players in the best position to win. The poster boy for their failures is Josh Gattis. @Cribby mentioned that it
was a red ⛳️ the way that Mario put the coaching staff together, big names without cohesion and clashing philosophies, a square peg in a round hole. That has exacerbated our demise. A lot of posters in this board have already jumped ship and even @DMoney is hanging by a thread.

The question is why? Why did he construct then the staff the way he did? Mario Cristobal is NOT an idiot. In every interview he gives he seems aware of what the issues are of his team. When I heard his interviews at Oregon it was the same no BS approach, and he rebuilt that team. Then a big part of the failure is on him because of his coordinators.... why??? Why did he go about the process in such an odd way?

Then it hit me. Mario was trying to salvage a recruiting class that was in the 70s. When he came here, he had to rush everything and try to convince recruits to join him and that Miami was spending big money. He was recruiting with a skeleton staff until Early NSD and until the end we didn't have both our OC/DC ( Shemar was wary of committing to us if he didn't know who the DC was for example). It seems he wanted to have SOMETHING in place between Early National Signing Day and Signing Day to save last year's top 15 class. It worked for THAT BUT it cost us the season.

Now Mario is not stupid. Unlike some of the posts here. For the first time since I can remember, the admin , Athletic director and coaches are aligned. year 1 was a spectacular failure yes, but there are at least 20 players leaving , possibly more with around 40 high school+ portal players incoming. For the first time ever we are investing big thanks to NIL and this class is ABOUT to get a lot better even if we lose all our games and go 4-8. There is big time financial backing in place. Mario will take the necessary steps to make changes to the staff and bring in the right players in here. I expect him to have a coaching staff that is not put last minute with the sole purpose to recruit/salvage a recruiting class. I think that this man is a very smart man who LOVES this university. he legit said he was ****ed off verbatim in the Joe Rose show. ****ed he lost to FSU and got embarrassed. Sick that he hired wrong coaches, sick that the Manny players are such mental weaklings. I think he will do ANYTHING to see this team return to glory. I predict this is the worst season we will ever have under Cristobal. The portal players that are coming will be good. Someone I trust has already hinted that the portal will b e attacked hard and from the tone of that convo it wont be just role players.

I am willing to give him 3 full recruiting cycles and I expect next year for us to be better and marked improvement every year after. Miami is on it's way back, Mario is nuking the whole thing from the ground up and of course learning from his mistakes.

If that's what he was thinking he's more of an idiot than I'm beginning to think.

The right staff is more important than salving one class that wasn't great anyway.

We've had our asses handed to us by teams all with lower ranked classes aside from TAMU.

Now we could lose this year's class and a slow start to next year because of it.

Didn't Mario himself say something along these lines?
I sincerely doubt Mario was rushing coaching hires to salvage the 2022 recruiting class.

Yeaaaaaaaah, no.

He did not put this staff together to salvage a recruiting class.

The hype for Mario’s hire was way over the top. Coming from a winning program with the best recruiting they had in years winning two pac 12 championships a rose bowl and beating Ohio state on the road plus being offered more to stay plus having a pretty **** good team in place. Mario threw all that away to come home and be abused by fans and social media who don’t know sh&t about what he was left to begin with at the U. he blames coaching every game takes responsibility and says he needs to do better. Every week. You really think that he along with his staff Alonzo, Ed reed, jason Taylor, Charlie strong etc don’t really know what the problem is?

Nah. He had a bunch of kids commit before his staff was assembled. I get the rationale, but even with this year’s disaster, Mario could still pull in a top 10 class. Dude is a legit recruiter.

There is no way he did all this to save one recruiting class. If anything he did the opposite, taking excruciatingly long to decide on multiple position coaches, which gave them less time to recruit.
Agreed. If anything I think his 1st choices at OC and DC turned him down. That is, what I believe took him so long. IDK how far down the list he had to go before he settled on Gattis and Steele, but i'm willing to bet, neither was his 1st nor his 2nd choice. Of course he wasn't gonna come out and say, "Hey I offered so and so the job, and promised them really nice financial packages as well... and both of those cabrones turned me down!"

If they know the problem then they should fix it.

What makes you think he won't?

What do you think this recruiting class is? Can he time travel and enroll those players now? Can he travel and start portal season early? The season is done. Much better players are on their way. Some other coaches too. He just needs to hit on the right hires. This is not an "easy button" staples commercisl where you press the button and it's fixed. They are literally fixing this as we speak.

Lol @ Blaming a 40+ pt home loss on Manny's "soft players." In Diaz's first year, the team beat FSU easily, then they dropped 50+ on FSU the following year at Doak, and last year they were one 4th and 13 away from Diaz having a perfect record as a HC against FSU.

If blaming Diaz and/or the players for Cristobals inability to coach or gameplan makes you feel better, then cope away.

You can adjust during the season. Plenty of coaches do it.

I am not confident we will be better next year if this staff is the same. I see QBs leaving, and not because they suck or are lazy. It's going to be brutal around here if he doesn't make real changes on O. No one is going to want to play in this O. Not our current players, and certainly not prized recruits. How many years of recruiting is it going to take, when half the kids he brings in jump ship? The transfer portal giveth, and taketh away. He needs to coach his way out of this mess. A mess that he has made worse.

He is NOT nuking it on purpose. Fact is he's a crappy game day coach. He can't win with the talent he has and is selling us a load of crap that we just need his recruits. Look no further than a year ago when Utah was beating him down, with his recruits. They out recruited Utah by a wide margin, so why did they get whooped so badly, twice? Coaching. He got his Big Manny @SS outcoached. It will be a recurring theme wherever he goes. He's a good recruiter, not a good coach.

Sure, we might see some improvement over complete dog crap, but we will never win titles with a man that can't coach the talent he has.

Terrible first year effort.. Season just needs to end already…finish the class and cut the trash..
And repeat it every year, claiming we just need more of Mario's talent in here. Then, when we still suck with a roster full of his players, then what? We have seen this movie before. It was Coker's kids, then Shannon's kids, then Golden's kids, then Richt's kids, and now Manny's kids. Maybe we need to hire a **** coach that can coach these young men and get the most out of them, not have the built in excuse of the previous coaches' players sucking.

It's simple. Gattis is that employee you work with who is promoted to his highest level of incompetence. The guy who talks a mad game but does very little in the leadership category and creating change. Someone who gets promoted off others hard work, but looks like the savior in the eyes of management.
Mario was fooled. By both the interview process and Gattis' awards. All he can do is own up to his mistake, fire him, and not make the same mistake twice.
I'll reserve judgement until that happens. Just like I did with Manny and his initial hires. If Mario fails a second time; I'll hop off the wagon.
