After spending the first two weeks of the spring evaluation period across the country, the University of Miami coaching staff will focus on the state of Florida for the next three weeks.

The Hurricanes currently have 261 offers out to the 2016 recruiting class with 89 of those offers coming from Florida.

Miami has put an emphasis in having a 2016 class that is full of prospects from the Sunshine State. The Hurricanes currently have 20 commits in 2016--all of which are from Florida.

The UM coaching staff spent the first two weeks of the evaluation period visiting talent rich areas in Georgia, Texas, California, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina.

Miami extended more than 50 offers in the 2016 and 2017 recruiting classes in those areas.

Many of the UM assistants will be visiting schools throughout South Florida. Running backs coach Tim Harris will start by focusing on Dade County. Defensive line coach Randy Melvin will be in Broward County.

Miami’s recruiting class currently ranks No. 2 in the country for 2016.

Miami also has the No. 2 ranked 2017 recruiting class with six commitments. All six of Miami’s 2017 class hail from Florida.
