Recruits believe in Mario more than fans of the program believe in mario

Just let the man do his job. If you’re a fan of the program, you’re a fan of Mario. He’s literally the definition of a Miami Hurricane. Literally. Just let the man do his job. I’d have loved to have beaten MTSU and Duke too. I get it. But let the man do the job he was brought here to do. That takes longer than 7 games. Support him and support his kids.
bingo. it does nobody any good to publicly bash the team you're a supposed fan of. If he can recruit this well when we are terrible, imagine what it could look like when we win a bunch of games.. He is recruiting dogs. nothing but big boys and speed that have that mentality he is looking for. Don't be a fan later after you **** all over the man..

Call me emotionally scarred, but I'll wait until signing day and his signature is on the paper to get excited. Mario has a history of being able to close, but I've seen plenty of top 5 classes in September and October fall to the mid to late teens in the past 15 years.
that negativity fits in perfect on this board.. your not allowed to be happy or excited here.

I'm not telling you to be negative about it. Go out and party.

I am allowed to have an opinion and to voice it on here right? Like all Cane fans, I am hopeful that it gets done. However, this is hardly the first time the Canes have gotten a verbal commitment from a 5 star guy. In the past though, more often than not, the commitment goes away when it comes time to putting pen to paper. Again, hopeful that Mario closes the class out, but not my first rodeo - although it is my first rodeo with Mario, I give you that.

Lol nobody’s being a fan later.

“Recruiting alone won’t solve the problem, and if Cristobal can’t stop the bleeding on the field, recruiting won’t be there for long.”

That’s the leading voice on this entire site.

It’s ok to think two different things at once.

We’re encouraged by the recruiting news and laughing at those hicks in Gainesville while also extremely alarmed by the product on the field.

It’s ok to take the night off from all of the ❌ reactions and acknowledge when something really good has been accomplished by Mario and the staff.

Season 2 Cheers GIF

These kind of bad years happen, especially when there is as big of a shift in...everything...within a program after years of negligence.

If you're a fat, out of shape, unhealthy, lazy, dilapidated shell of your former self...its going to hurt when you start going back to the gym...you're going to have wild hunger pangs, going to be hangry, going to have some ****ty days at the gym, going to have days you want to quit, you're going to fvck up and eat like **** sometimes.

My heart and best intentions told me this team would be better with just a functional coach. But the facts and the evidence tell me it is not.

If Mario is the guy to get us back to some semblance of respectability in college football or if he's just our Ron Zook...this is going to take some time. Its been a clown show for far too long to expect otherwise and we all should have known better, present company included.

But today...today was one of those good days at the gym. THE PROCESS can be tough...but today was a good day.

Lets go 'Canes.
Good post @BoxingRobes

That was a great analogy and I can relate in terms of being guilty of overestimating the talent level on this team. I also think that we have a coach in Mario who is basically rebuilding the entire program from the ground up and the manner with which he is doing that is mutually exclusive with the philosophy of taking the talent you have and using scheme to make it look better than it is. The way Mario is rebuilding the team is to identify the weaknesses, isolate them, then go straight at them over and over and over until those weaknesses begin to show signs of improvement and are no longer weaknesses. Butch Davis had the same MO and it can be very effective long terms but you must be willing to endure the excruciatingly horrid football that you see in the beginning. I think that this has a lot to do with the poor play we are seeing this year. Most fans assumed that a better staff would mean better on field results right away but that's not the way that Mario is doing this apparently.

It's really not so shocking when you really think about it. These players have been under **** poor leadership with no focus on the core fundamentals. This new staff is tearing these guys down then they can build them back up with good habits and rock solid fundamentals. This doesn't mean I like or agree with everything Mario does. It also doesn't mean I liked all of his staff hires but that is another discussion.

We are 3-4, we lost to MTSU and we keep a Top 10 class with top tier players like Bryant, Mauigoa and Joseph publicly backing their commitment and supporting Miami over and over again.

This observation is 100% accurate.

Historically atrocious coaching but absolutely exceptional work in the crootin department. Hoping for a domino effect on the trail.

I get your point here, but this just feels different. DVD has been recruiting this young stud for quite some time. And I cannot name a 5star player that committed to Miami this late in the process, assuming he signs in December, to then decommit? We're talking about six weeks from early signing.

Recruits are new to the Miami game. I’ve been doing this since their daddy’s were still growing peach fuzz

PS. I was told that recruiting rankings don’t matter and overrated Florida players are why we are so bad now, so why should I get excited about this Florida 5 star?
I think its been said that top 5-10 percent of Fl kids are true studs. Always recruit/bring them in. (And this one isn’t from SoFla), but I digress.
It the so fla kids (3 and 4 star kids) that shouldn’t be treated the way the are when other states have similar rated kids and likely will buy in to culture.

I think Mario has done A+ job recruiting. Would love to start bringing the cream of the crop of SoFla kids, but if Mario keeps recruiting this way, we going to be alright if we don’t get them.

probably a long shot, but if we can land those 2 wrs in next years class, then we can start about building a fence around soFla again (but for the cream of the crop)

I never had a problem with Mario, even though he was 3rd on my list. I knew he was an excellent recruiter from the time spent under the 2 best. My problem is some of the staff, and my worries about Mario not swallowing his pride, in regards to changing schemes dramatically, both in Off & Def...

This is the common element of most running their/our mouths right now.
- Not against Mario.
- Think he can build a program.
- Ecstatic about the resource commitment.

But concerned with game day and schemes and saying he needed to get great coordinators.

Then seeing all that turn into a Duke conga line and **** record losing multiple very very winnable games - after being ridiculed for every single question or comment about Mario or staff.

Cormani was a MASSIVE get. Let’s keep stacking and win a few now.
