Last two years
1. Miami (QB Brad Kaaya, Malik Rosier, Evan Shirreffs)
2. FSU (QB Deondre Francois, J.J. Cosentino, DeAndre Johnson)
3. Florida (QB Treon Harris, Will Grier)
*Because Kaaya has played at a reasonably high level, Miami gets the nod here. FSU probably got the best 3. And 2 of them have good upside. I think UF is in trouble. They have to HIT on the kid for the 2016. Can't just land "a top 10 kid", he has to be good. Have heard nary a good word about Grier.
1. RB FSU (Dalvin Cook, Jacques Patrick, Jonathan Vickers)
2. RB Miami (Joseph Yearby, Mark Walton, Trayone Gray)
3. RB Florida (Jordan Scarlett, Brandon Powell, Jordan Cronkrite)
*Like Kaaya above, obviously Cook has already produced at a high level. However all did reasonably well here and I would rather be Miami in ONE WAY. And that is Cronkrite and Vickers are who they are. Fillers. Gray actually possesses some real upside. Yearby looks like the least "****" of the guns, but don't be fooled. He will be a lot better in 2015.
1. WR FSU (George Campbell, Davante Phillips, Ermon Lane, Travis Rudolph, Auden Tate, Nyqwan Murray)
2. WR Miami (Lawrence Cager, Tyre Brady, Darrell Langham, Braxton Berrios)
3. WR Florida (CJ Worton, Kalif Jackson, Antonio Calloway, Ryan Sousa)
*This one is pretty easy to summerize. FSU has signed the kids that Miami used to sign.........and Miami has signed the kids that FSU used to sign. IE- FSU has the NFL kids and Miami has the good college players. UF is a good distance back here and I like Worton/Jackson (they just are not stars).
1. TE FSU (Mavin Saunders, Ryan Izzo, Jalen Wilkerson)
2. TE UF (De'Anfernee McGriff, Moral Stephens, Deondre Goolsby, Cyontai Lewis, Camrin Knight, Daniel Imatorbhebhe)
3. TE Miami (Jerome Washington, Chris Herndon, David Njoku)
*FSU has landed 3 pretty good ones here. UF has gone crazy and frankly 6 should be enough to put them at the top. However none are that highly thought of and each is somewhat questionable. Don't know anything on Washington. Herndon is athletic but a project. So is Njoku.
1. OL FSU (Roderick Johnson, Abdul Bello, Derrick Kelly, Cole Minshew, Chad Mavety, Kareem Are, Corey Martinez, Brock Ruble, Alec Eberle, Ethan Frith, David Robbens)
2. OL Florida (Martez Ivey, David Sharpe, Andrew Mike, Travaris Dorsey, Fred Johnson, Nolan Kelleher, Kavaris Harless, Nick Buchanan, Tyler Jordan, Brandon Sandifer, Richard Desir-Jones)
3. OL Miami (KC McDermott, Trevor Darling, Jahair Jones, Tyler Gauthier, Bar Milo, Tyree St. Louis, Nick Linder, Hayden Mahoney, Joe Brown, Brendan Loftus)
*This would just be in terms of who got he most high end type talent. FSU has a bunch of the least questionable of the lower tier. Like RB all have done good enough. Miami needs to get 3-4 real good ones in 2016.
1. DT FSU (Demarcus Christmas, Derrick Nnadi, Arthur Williams, Darvin Taylor, Adam Torres, Frederick Jones)
2. DT Miami (Anthony Moten, Courtel Jenkins, Richard McIntosh, Michael Wyche, Calvin Heuertelou, Kendrick Norton, Ryan Fines)
3. DT Florida (Thomas Holley, Khairi Clark, Ivie, Zuniga)
*The top 5 there for FSU has a high ceiling. High. Some risk. Could be incredible size though. Miami has quietly done OK here. Not a fan of Norton or Fines, but the rest have something going for them. Jenkins was arguably better than Nnadi as a frosh. I think this is another spot where UF is in trouble. Holley is a NY kid----very hit and miss. Clark is like Forston. And the last two are questionable (although UF fans have convinced themselves that Zuniga > Cowart).
1. DE Miami (Chad Thomas, Gerald Willis, Scott Patchan, Trent Harris, Demetrius Jackson, Jamie Gordinier)
2. DE FSU (Josh Sweat, Lorenzo Featherston, Rick Leonard)
3. DE UF (Luke Ancrum, Justus Reed, Taven Bryan, Keivonnis Davis)
*This is pretty tight. If UF signs Jefferson........Thomas vs. Sweat vs Jefferson. And then Miami has more depth. FSU has not signed enough (although they have some in roster options) and UF has some real questionable kids. Don't like the Davis take because he can't play there. Reed can't play there. Like Ancrum but he should need some time.
1. LB Miami (Charles Perry, Juwon Young, Darrion Owens, Marques Gayot, Mike Smith, Terry McCray, James King)
2. LB FSU (Jacob Pugh, Kain Daub, Delvin Purifoy, Lorenzo Phillips, Sh'mar Kilby-Lane)
3. LB Florida (Rayshad Jackson)
*Daub is questionable moving forward and Purifoy is coming off injury. Pugh played well last year (better than Owens). With Gayot moving there, Miami has the best numbers. UF is in real bad shape here. Real bad.
1. CB FSU (Tarvarus McFadden, Marcus Lewis, Javon Harrison, Malique Jackson, Calvin Brewton)
2. CB Florida (Jalen Tabor, JC Jackson, Deiondre Porter, Quincy Wilson, Chris Williamson)
3. CB Miami (Sheldrick Redwine, Michael Jackson)
*Harrison will bail FSU out at CB as I see him as a future fist round pick there. If Lewis gets in they are pretty solid at CB. UF is also in very good shape as Tabor played well and Porter has a high ceiling. We have seen this play out before at Miami and it is not pretty. Don't worry next year in a state with 50 D-1 CBs.......they will struggle to find 2-3 CBs.
1. S FSU (Derwin James, Trey Marshall, Aj Westbrook)
2. S Miami (Jaquan Johnson, Robert Knowles, Ryan Mayes)
3. S Florida (Duke Dawson, Kylan Johnson)
*James is a difference maker. Elite. Marshall played well. Westbrook/Mayes. Similar. Essentially James is Jaquan Johnson with size and speed. Love Johnson and he will play. Knowles has a chance. I don't think the Johnson kid can play for UF (although like Davis from Miami Central or Desir from STA.....he is from a 'name' school Dallas Skyline). Lot of dead weight at S in Gainesville.
I got FSU winning 7 positions and getting 2nd in the other 3.
Miami wins 3 positions, 4 2nds, 3 3rds
UF does not win any positions, only gets 2nd 3 times, and 7 times has the worst group.
Even if Miami loses 6 of the current 13 2016 commits. They still have 7. Same number as FSU. UF has 1. So a lot of work to be done there.
