Not sure what else can be said about this. I know our location has its advantages but we rank 57th out of 124 schools. I also realize we are not a big revenue program like Texas or just about every SEC school. Although, I could make the argument that that is a result of under-investment.

So what do others think? Phuckery and lack of commitment or are we just that fortunate due to location that we don't have to spend as much as other places. Imagine if we just spend another $500,000 annually within the state of Florida.

FSU spends only 150k more than we do. UF spends ~700k more, and gets worse results.

Sonm thing to keep in mind is that since we're located in the national hotbed of talent, we don't need to travel as far or as expensively to keep up with top-rated recruits.

Michigan is 4th and FSU is 51st..............

And look at Kansas, Iowa State, Illinois and Vanderbilt. All Top 20 spenders for recruiting. Amazing.

Some of this has to be individual accounting practices.

I guess corching can't be overstated.

These numbers explain why Kansas is so good. Big recruiting budget, multi-millions for a corch. I guess money isn't everything.

How much does it cost to drive to Central, MNW, STA, BTW?

Does anyone put anything in context? Does anyone understand why Miami ALWAYS has the ability to win? Does anyone understand why this is a great job?

Another thing about the data, is while we can safely presume the lion's share is dedicated to football, we don't actually know the breakdown per sport. These are aggregated numbers of all athletic department activities.

I put everything into an excel spreadsheet to play around with it. If I get a chance, I will run some regression analysis for fun and see what comes up.

You have to remember in regards to this budget that just the proximity helps us keep our costs low.

All the athletes we want are nearby hence lower needed budgets. Notre Dame recruits nationally, hence their budgets are going to be higher. Auburn spends double the amount of Texas, and it isn't like Texas doesn't have any money. That's why we see FSU so near us because we often recruit against one another, but they wander a little more into the Bible Belt, due to proximity.

I'm not sure there is a cause and effect with these numbers, but it certainly isn't exclusive of the equation.

There are statistics that matter. This is not one of them due to all the obvious reasons. No reason to spend more here just to say you did.

I'd rather they plug any additional dollars into coaches, practice bubble funding.

recruiting budgets = travel costs for the coaches

most of the best recruits are in South Florida.

our coaches aren't booking chartered flights from Gables to Booker T, Aquinas, or even Pompano. but almost everyone else on the list do.

This. We can put a championship team together on a tank of gas.

You should pull a top 15 class with enough gas to get to Palm Beach alone.

i'm assuming this is why Kansas and Kentucky are so high, because a large part is going to basketball

There are some other interesting numbers in the report. On the revenue side, the same schools keep rising to the top more or less regarding Ticket Sales, Contributions and Donations, Licensing and Royalties, etc.

Hard to compare with UM though because we don't report that information.

Left out the part about hiring competent coaches. That is a big part of it. You know something we have had for over a decade.

Would make sense. Louisville, while certainly vastly improved in football, is still a basketball school. My hypotheses is that explains the $25,888,524 and 17 overall ranking for revenue in ticket sales as much or more than the football program.

Wisconsin is killing it in Contributions and Donations: $58,907,876.

No issue with this. We traditionally recruit within a 200 mile radius unlike any other school on that list (excluding FIU, FAU maybe). Smart business by UM

That metric is self-reported every Saturday.
