Rece Davis calls spring FB BS.

Spring football would mean asking players to play 20+ games in a calendar year. All while still pretending they aren't pros even though they just played more games over the course of a calendar year than the pros. That **** aint happening. Urban said no chance. If all of fall football gets canceled see you again in August 2021

Spring football is silly what they are going to have 40 to 50 players playing in meaning less games then play again couple months in the fall

So, does any one who is advocating (and not being paid to do so and has no business/work reason to do so) for fall football not have a financial interest clouding their judgment?

Can you make a rational argument for why the kids should play given the risks that does not involve your love of money?

If you are a fan, and want fall football, do you gamble on games or play fantasy for $?

The "journalists" schools TV networks and billionaires who own all the sports media properties and dip****s on ESPN etc are all frauds driven by the mighty $$$.

As a fan, so are you? A fan of money, or of sport? I would assert the former.

It is OK not to have football for 1 season.

You heard it here first: Army vs. Navy will be canceled.

Then the slavers att ACC/SEC schools and their ESPN financiers will be last man standing on this.

The issue is whether, and how much safer the athletes are playing football vs. not playing football, wrt covid. They are still going to school and the other stuff 19 year olds do. Look at all the people in FL of that age group who contracted the disease, who weren't playing football.

:hammering-head:

Spring football season followed by a fall football season is utter physical abuse. Kids may have a 4-6 week break between the end of a season and start of practice for the next. And politicians, medical experts, university presidents and conference commissioners talk about looking out for the student-athlete, keeping them safe . . . hypocrisy at its finest!!

I've already seen some sports commentators including Rece call this crap out.

The safety of the players is not the priority for conferences that have canceled, and it never was.

Does all of the players advocating to play count as a rational argument? They have a desire to play the game and compete.

If they are following all of the safety protocols then is it any more likely they will get it playing football? You could make an argument either way because each way argues on the 'possibility' of it. There is always a possibility of something or nothing happening. If the kids do all the reasonable things safety wise to mitigate risk and voluntarily accept what ever residual risk remains then who are you to say they cant play? Thats no different than anyone else walking the street right now.

A lot of folks keep trying to white night for players like they really care about them but don't even acknowledge their argument or consider what they want to do in the matter

They are safer on the program than they are outside of it. Keeping season will prevent disease, but it may increase liability. So selfishly conferences may cancel to avoid liability but act against the interests of student athletes. And anyone who isn’t comfortable has the right to sit out...
