Recall the moment when you “knew” Manny wasn’t the guy

Way too many people in this thread lying about knowing from the beginning that he wasn't it. There were only a handful of people expressing concern. Everyone else was too "excited." That's all I read the moment he was announced from 99% of you ********, was how god**** excited you were. It went on all offseason, and anyone who poo-pooed on that was just looking to be the first to call him being awful.
That would truly be the death of this program. Are you all serious?
I knew before it happened in a thread suggesting to hire diaz after richt stepped down

Several of us did. I can tell you for sure that on that night myself, Whatthehell, and Hegemon were not happy campers. Someone pull up the threads from that night and let's put this topic to bed. This one was NOT hard to see coming. It was a failed endeavor from the start to anyone who really looked at it objectively.

We needed an experienced head coach at that moment, and we needed that guy BADLY. It's been less than a year and now most understand this.

Well, I'm not as smart as all you guys it seems. Because I kinda thought we had something going this winter when we hired Penos and Manny got in. Yeah, I chugged the kool-aid and a ton of you did as well. Part of me kind of thinks he might still be the guy if he gets the right people working under him.

If you can defend Richt as a HC if he's a hands-off, executive time coach then you can say the same about Manny. He can push the narrative and hype for the program while his capable staff run the x's and o's. You telling me this team couldn't run itself if our OC ran a killer spread, our DC knew WTF he was doing, we had an ACTUAL ST coach etc?

To me, and this may sound silly to some, but the moment I KNEW manny wasn’t the guy is when someone posted a video with some of the players dancing and laughing...and manny comes into focus, looks into the camera with the most stupid, nerdy and aloof look EVER- I knew right then- we are ****ed.
It was in the 3rd quarter of this last game, during the 7 or so minute drive. Down by 3 scores, our "elite" QB kept letting the play clock roll down for who knows what reason. Anyway, the camera shows him and he's not angry, he's not hurrying anyone, he just looks pathetic. Then, somewhere in there, we are forced to call a TO because we took so long to get the play in.

This was possibly the most frustrating game I've ever watched with the only possible exception MAYBE being the 87' Fiesta Bowl.

There was so much non-thinking going on, it was truly stunning. I don't think I've been a knee jerk reactor, and we're not even through the 1st season, but I think you also come to a point where you simply say, "Let's be honest with ourselves. This isn't working out and it's not going to work out."

Check the logs...and let me dunk on all you slurpers. It'll look like a Dunk Contest in this bish, where I am ALL the participants.

Gonna bounce a ball over a stack of i'm james jackson brother's money and hit a tomahawk dunk from the 3pt line like I'm the Phoenix Suns Gorilla on most ya.

as soon as he didnt name martell the starter i knew he was part of a corrupt plot to further subvert our program. i mean who in their right mind would ever start two little charcoal briquettes over a certified winner
All three were winners.... in high school. Oh but we beez high school now.

Gonna need you to confirm how excited I was for this ****.

Our next head coach is going to be a lazy hire in Manny Diaz.

Listen, I am not one to walk in on a bukkake party and stop everyone's fun...but I don't see anything that is going on at this school right now that says Miami will be better than their usual 8-win-ish selves as they've been for over the past decade. There will be a time and place for a real breakdown, but its not while everyones getting their strokes in and going bananas over every tweet by Pedro and Manny while fantasy booking the Manny Diaz era of Miami football.

I ain't sipping this KoolAid...there can be a good discussion on the topic later, but its not while everyone's splooging over fantasy booked hires to a staff that doesn't exist yet.

I have a feeling this is going to end up as "the friends Manny Diaz met along the way" of a staff.

For the coordinator spots, I'm worried less. Its the position coaches and recruiters that I think we're going to swing and miss on hard.

Pretty clear Miami went incredibly cheap in the post-Richt world.

Paid Manny Diaz above, IMO, market value and clearly ponied up for Dan Enos. But littered the rest of the staff with simply "friends of" that are all getting raises from previous jobs, but still going relatively cheap.

Feel the offensive staff needs more recruiters. Fields seems like a push with Hartley, just a different, more important focus (Fields being a South Florida heavy recruiter - Hartley in the Jacksonville area) as a recruiter. The rest of the offensive staff has no record of being recruiters or having real success at their position grouping as a coach. All would qualify as journeymen, to me. Willing to give the a cycle to see if some of these guys come through, but the initial staff seems disappointing and cheap and lacks recruiters. Most of these moves would see justifiable if they spent some coin on someone like Seider or another quality dog recruiter.

Swipe Right.

“I’ve seen horrors… horrors that you’ve seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that… but you have no right to judge me. It’s impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face… and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies. I remember when I was with Special Forces. Seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate the children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn’t see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember… I… I… I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized… like I was shot… like I was shot with a diamond… a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God… the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we. Because they could stand that these were not monsters. These were men… trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love… but they had the strength… the strength… to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral… and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling… without passion… without judgment… without judgment. Because it’s judgment that defeats us.”

When I first realized "This dude has a major lisp."

If he can't correct that to chase his real dream job at eSECpn then he certainly can't fix any of our problems.

Any positives thoughts I had post this epiphany were obviously mescaline based hallucinations.

When they announced his hiring....
This. Nothing good comes out of a failed regime. Add in the NO COACHING SEARCH.
Yet, I still gave him a chance.

I ignored the red flags such as his hirings, his offseason antics. I thought to myself, he better hope he can back up his talk. I gave him a chance. I won't lie, he fooled me with this branding. How foolish of me.
After living through every corch since Butch left, you become pretty good at spotting a corch. UF lost hurt but that team was one of the most unprepared and undisciplined team I saw Miami roll out. Yet, we still had a chance to win. I gave him more chances. After the UNC game, I wanted him gone asap. You're not fooling me any longer.

You can't predict the future 1 game into the season porsters told me. 2 games in... 3 games in.. 5 games in... etc. I was losing my mind when they compared him to DABO, SABAN, AND BUTCH. Porsters keep bringing up Butch's first season. Guess what, Butch had the resume for me to keep trusting him. Manny doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. He has proven nothing. He was the shiniest **** in the toilet, the tallest midget in the room.

History has proven us "mopes" right and it continues to prove us right. To the blind homers, how about start thinking about the program instead of showing undying loyalty to a corch. That undying loyalty is what's kept us irrelevant and mediocre. It's alright if it takes you longer than some of us to wake up but don't give us **** for being right. History has proven us right, every time.

Exactly... Some of these same mfers I see kept on supporting him after UNC.

Since Day 0. Like @streetja, he optimistically won me over in the off season, but the red flags against UF started to waive. Disappointed, but still willing to give him a chance. However, once he used the excuse of JW being a freshman QB as to why we lost against UF, and then we got smoked by a TF QB after a bye week.....yeah, that was the finale.

That lil squeak by 3 game winning streak did nothing for my confidence regarding Diaz. I was happy for the team, but always knew we could've easily went 1-2 during that time frame. Some posters were calling out a potential loss to FIU after we lost to VAG TECH. This angered me, but it didn't surprise me, simply due to how we looked against CMU.

On August 25, 2019 I wrote:

If we come back and beat UNC to the tune of 31-0 then the staff and players should get credit for a response to adversity.

If it is a sloppy, close battle up there, then we are more of the same garbage.

Also on August 25, 2019:

I'm already a broken record on this but if we go out and smoke UNC then there is reason to hope. If we get into a struggle, it is more of the same crap on the horizon.

After a hard-fought loss to an in-state rival, you have to recover emotionally and move on to the next task at hand. That has been difficult for this program after poor results against F$U in the past. This year, we were afforded the luxury of TWO WEEKS to get it right before playing a weak UNC squad. That is why I knew that the UNC game would be the shibboleth for this staff.

Why anyone would trust these clowns after that performance is beyond me.

I knew when I saw the staff he brought in

OC with no track record of successful offenses
RB coach from KState
WR coach from Air Force
TE coach that was a recruiting coordinator
OL coach that was an assistant OL coach in the MAC
DC from the Mud Dogs
DL coach that was retired from the MAC
Kept the LB coach from HS
Kept the CB coach from HS
Kept the S coach from ****tail
Didn’t hire ST coach

We never had a chance

This. Pop Warner level staff ain't going to get it done.

I kept shaking my head at Enos - when I looked at his resume'. The numbers said, "no."

And that was just the FIRST one I bothered to look at - but a lot of the "EXPERTS" here really touted what a steal we got - from Alabama. But then, he wasn't the OC at Alabama.

Manny better be recruiting some OC, DC, and assistant coaches - and make sure the University provides the money for some real talent.

***** hiring former friends, fellow coaches, etc. Go ice cold and hire the best or at least some with a track record worth mentioning.

Butch Davis could hire a coaching staff here - guaranteed. This is part of "experience," and where "experience" comes into play.

Went bird hunting with a friend - brand new high tech automatic shotgun - and I brought my Winchester Model 97 - as in 1897.

He couldn't hit squat - and his super gun simply wasn't feeding right - jammed every time he took a breath.

Proven is - proven.

Tbf I remember most people on here being outraged at the hire and the hiring process when it happened.. some may have later talked themselves into it due to all that tnm non sense and portal action..

CaneinOrlando has absolutely no use for the Lot of them (except Rumph because I've known him for 20yrs)...None of those other clowns belong on a UM sideline...

I hear you brother, but I'd like to clean house. I want a fresh start with a BOSS at Head Coach..... And no offense @caneinorlando, whether it's true, I don't know but wasn't Rumph ****ting on Miami when he was a head coach in high school?
