Reasons for Optimism

In theory, you're not wrong. But it is about as unlikely as it gets that anything you said comes to fruition
 
one reason for optimism is the next coach with at least have some players to work with if we continue to close this class.
 
Mark Richt mentioned last year wait till the young pups on the O.L. start to play ; He was excited as **** about their potential, either there was a serious misjudgment of talent, or someone isn't coaching our boys correctly. By the way our x offensive line coach I thing resides in North Carolina how did those boys do

There is NO reason for optimism.

You're obviously a young fan who has never, ever seen Miami kick the **** out of teams almost every week.

I have.

Stick a fork in the program as it currently is, because it's done.

This offense (under the right leadership & in the right schemes) should be destroying opponents next year (but the OL play must be at least average -- it cannot continue to be very poor).

2) Manny can make changes. Rarely does a HC make every initial hire correctly. The key to succeeding as a HC is to make adjustments where they are necessary. I think:

a) the OC and DC should both be replaced. Until Manny had greater input, the Defense didn't look anything like his prior defenses (which were great & gave us plenty of reason for optimism). There's no question the Defense regressed significantly prior to Manny re-inserting himself. The OL was a mess and former players weren't particularly impressed by the coaching or the attitude of the players.

b) Enos & Barry should be replaced.

c) Special teams were a disaster that cost us 3-4 games (which contributed to the season tanking which will have a huge impact on the Manny Diaz era). Not having another K ready to go was a disaster of epic proportions. Fake FGs being converted on us, muffed punts at around the 10 yd line, missed FG & PATs. Disaster.

Manny will need to make some tough decisions in order to survive. I think hiring a creative OC (who can mask deficient OL play) is key. Hiring a strong OL coach is also a top priority. If Manny remains highly involved in the D, replacing Baker is somewhat less important. Special teams need to be fixed badly.

If this team sticks together & grows together, it could actually be quite good next year. They also play a relatively weak schedule. However, coaching changes should be made & the product on the field needs to be much crisper than the sloppy play we saw in many phases this year. Manny has it as a Defensive coach. His 2018 Defense was a top-ranked unit. We need to see greater production from Offense and Special Teams.

Yeah I’m a little more downer than usual about Jarren after the last 2 games but I cant Deny he has shown flashes throughout the season and if he can develop this side of his game more routinely then we can have something..


Very pleased with will mallory progress the last 2 games as well

Occasionally UVA and UNC are the level that we are at.

Therefore I know longer see this “weak” schedule when we have proven to be a team that’s equally as trash as the rest of the coastal since joining this conference.

If anything the ACC coastal continues to be the most unpredictable power 5 division in CFB

agree. Based on past history we really are no better than the other coastal teams.

It’s weak when we compare the rosters against ours in our division. We always under achieve, plain and simple.

The scary part to me is how a decent season with our pathetic schedule could hide the obvious changes that need to be made.

After this year though, I could honestly see (without a change in heart with our squad) UAB coming in and either beating us or scaring us ala Central Michigan. That team actually gives a **** and plays up to their competition and we consistently play down to ours.

Say what you want about Baker, Manny and the defense.....but Enos didn’t have any part of his offense anywhere close to #1 in any metric ever discovered in humankind.
