Really good article in part on Blake James

Thanks for posting! Great to hear about all the additional hires and the nutritionist. They are going all out. Maybe we were too harsh on Blake while he was under Shalala. Things have changed dramatically since she left.

Yup. Everything changed the second she walked out the door, and that can't be a coincidence. I feel bad for everyone involved with UM football while she was running the show. Talk about handcuffed. Jeez.

They are giving the team much more support and funds.. hope it translates to Ws.

I'm actually looking forward to the upgraded joe robbie too.

Tears of joy reading this part even though I'm not totally sold on Diaz yet:
One NFL executive said the quality of the UM coaching staff has been significantly upgraded with UM willing to pay more now: “Coach Kul is one of the better defensive line coaches in the country. They’ve got one of the better strength coaches now. The defensive coordinator has done a lot with less in a couple of his previous jobs; he’s a huge upgrade over Mark D’Onofrio. Player development will be better.

I liked the part talking about us outbidding GT for Searles. It's a good sign if GT was going after him because with the triple option they HAVE to have good OL play for it to work.

Too harsh? No such thing when you let a coach like Al Golden stick around for so long after underachieving so much.

We all knew it was Shalala but Blake had no excuse for the whole sign crap at B ball games. He should never had taken signs away. That was slime.

Donna Shalala loved her some Al Golden.

The signs deal was the worst thing Blake has done. I didn't like the signs at the basketball game because we should be supporting that team too but I still thought it was petty for them to take the signs. But as far as keeping Golden too long, I think that was Shalala and right now Blake is doing a good job

Blake James has done a good job now that he has better resources and not being controlled by crazy a$$ shalala... Keep it going now Blake...

Seems we all owe ol Blake an apology. He was never an al fan and his hands were tied by Shalala. Blake should be held in the same esteem as the current staff. UM Athletics now in the hands of an AD on par with the top schools. Dap up James. we good!

Let's fly a thank you James banner when we the fruits of all the labor. No need to thank him just yet. We did that with Donna and AG ... We all saw how that ended up.

That was a fantastic article. Blake got roughed up here; and its clear that the real enemy was Shalala. Literally ruined this program, or at least tried to. Now, that's all behind us. Time for the misperception of Miami's athletics will be changing very soon.

I'm fine with acknowledging Blake by his given name and giving him a clean slate starting now as it also seems as though we have a semi de facto football AD in place as well in Richt. The one thing Barry Jackson's article seems to have missed is giving Dr. Frenkenstein some credit for at the very least not being a roadblock to the increased revenue expenditures and quite possibly actually being a proponent for them.

Great point.

A lot of people were concerned when Dr. Frenk was hired. His background at Harvard had fans afraid he would be another Shalala. He proved to be a strong proponent of the football program, and athletics in general. No, he didn't fire Golden right away, but when it was clear the program needed a change he supported moving forward and quickly. He supported the team after the controversial ending to the Duke game, both publicly, in the media, and in the ACC boardrooms.

-- Football is not just what we do, it is part of who we are.

(or something like that).

All the stupid lame puppet **** he did was Shalala's fault. All the good stuff that's happened since Richt fell in his lap is all Blake.

Best AD in college sports.
