Realistic Targets (2015)

Is there anything on gallimore that youre hearing, or just a gut feeling?

Realistic additions to UM's DT list I would say are Gallimore, Ryslik, and Alabi.

Neville Gallimore ( I really like UM's chances with him)

David Ryslik ( visiting this week or next and should be offered on visit. He is a classic blue collar type plugger)

Joshua Alabi ( will be tough to pull him from MSU, but very doable if UM can get family on board)

Darrion Daniels ( tough pull from Texas, TTech, and OU)

Addition to the Realistic LB list would be

Ben Humphreys ( Brad Kaaya is recruiting this kid)

Once Pierre and Chick leave who do we have next year to play 3-4 DE besides Kamalu and Jelani Hamilton?

Behind them will be freshmen.

Moten but otherwise I don't see many able to play that spot.

That is why I'm curious on the long term game plan here. We have a ton of guys who can play DE in a 4-3 but not many could handle the 3-4 DE spot, especially what we ask of that position.

Our wish for DT is every 5*, 4* and top tier 3*.

LB
Coney
Sheppard

S
Irvin
Johnson
Carlton Davis

CB
Cole
D. Davis
Fenton

We need to cast a wider net for LBs this cycle. And they need to be good ones.

Wonder how big Chad or Jackson will be in two years? You guys are right at some point in order to get your best players on the field we will need move some of the Fast DE to OLB. Quan Def could play OLB and with the number of top quality DEs we got coming in.

Four-star CB Marcus Lewis should be added to the list. Rivals' Mike Farrell mentioned about a week ago that he thinks Lewis will flip from his UF commitment and specifically mentioned Miami as a possibility.

OP add Marquedous (sp?) Lewis

I want the kid, but we need the positions above. We have 2 DEs committed (McIntosh and Patchan) and we have 2 others who are DE/LB (Gordinier and George), I don't think we need more DEs.

I can add him to the list.

I agree we are loaded at DE but Jason Strowbridge is a take somehow based on the versatility he brings.

Go Canes

You take Strowbridge because I think he's a future DT. Other than that no more DE's. Take 2 CB's, 2 safeties, 2 LB'ers & 2 DT's if possible.

Let's go back to the aggressive upfield attacking 4-3

Was just thinking about this. In order to be successful a 3-4 either needs a beast of a DT or two good DE's. We have not had any in the past 4 years. With the way we recruit on defense, smaller DT/DE/LB's, it seems odd that they don't play a 4-3.

-Chad could stay in that 250-255 range and be effective as a DE.
-McCord/Quan could play the Jeremiah Attaocho role
-Chick can play DT.

McIntosh's coach says the kid is already up to 270 lbs and is being recruited by Miami as a DT. My bigger concern now is getting a true NG. Also, we need to land a CB. The only one we got last year was Ryan Mayes and he wasn't very highly regarded.

Speaking of "idiotic"...and not because I'm opposed to it, but because we aren't going to wake up tomorrow morning to a presser from Golden and NoDFrio saying that we are switching to the 4-3.

Its just not realistic, and posting it here is less about knowledge and more about being a whiny bytch. We run a multiple 3-4. Talk within those parameters.

None are committed yet, but any combination of 3-4 corners out of the 6-7 we are in on will help tremendously. Plus, we run at least 5 deep at CB on the current roster...Gunter/Howard/Burns/Crawford/Elder at least...and all can/will likely rotate in.

My opinion never really been impressed with Terek Cole, I would prefer Carlton Davis, Devante Davis, Or Reshard Causey instead.

this is not a prediction..... but I feel good about Carlton and davante Davis

Cole is like Howard 2.0. won't wow you athletically but a great cover corner. He can go head to head with a davante Peete (6'5) then come back and cover a Isaiah mckenzie type

We are talking about recruiting the class of 2015, so recruits from the class of 2012 are irrelevant. Even 2013 doesn't help much. Miami will be very thin at CB in 2016 if we don't pull a few good ones now.

Really hope Carlton Davis ends up in this class. Came away very impressed by his ball skills, explosive hitting, and versatility in his highlights. Underrated player.

Not sure how many DBs we'll be taking this cycle, but I'd assume somewhere between 4-5. Marcus Lewis, Tyrek Cole, Carlton Davis, Tim Irvin, and Jaquan Johnson would be a great DB haul, even though it seems pretty unrealistic at this point. Davante Davis and Rashard Causey might be more realistic alternatives if we can't flip Lewis from UF and/or Cole from FSU.

Cole is not elite IMO very small and not a very high ceiling looked average in coverage today

Really like Devante Davis
