Brett McMurphy thoughts this morning;

  • He believes they (OU & UT) are gone
  • They could join the SEC as soon as 2022
  • ACC grabs WVU and keeps a spot for ND
  • B10 adds Kansas, ISU

  • B12 has 3 options
  • Baylor, TTU, OSU, TCU- P12 (poor KSU)
  • SMU, HOUSTON, TULANE, MEMPHIS, TULSA, UCF, USF, CINCINNATI, BYU, BOISE, CSU join BAY, TTU, OSU, TCU
  • B12 goes all out and keeps ISU and KU and courts NEBRASKA, CU, BYU, BOISE. UTAH, HOUSTON, SMU, ARIZONA, ARIZONA ST
The greed at the heart of this sport is face melting. College football is not going to survive.

Don't see the Big 10 wasting a spot on ISU.

That doesn't solve anything. If the SEC gets Texas and OU then the rest of college football has to completely realign. Nobody is going to care about any other conference. With the NIL stuff coming through the SEC would leave everyone in the dust and never look back. The rest of college football would have to be torn apart and rebuilt.

LOL @ A&M. Why though would Texas and OU want to go to SEC so badly? If you win the BIg 12 with minimum 1 loss as those 2 schools you are getting in the playoff. Is it strictly because of money? Those 2 schools don't have enough money? All that Oil out there? This will simply make it harder to get into playoff spots for OU and Texas.

The Big 10 teams are not going to give up their buyouts. They have been getting more than the SEC.

Rumors the Longhorn Network has been losing ESPN a ton of money and they were not going to renew it, so brokered/nudged this along.

Just my prediction, but the SEC will have a reckoning at some point. This is an awful way to do business.

The negative for the SEC is how do you make Bama, UF, UGA, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU, Texas, and OU happy in a conference where there can only be 1 winner? And then teams like Miss St, Tennessee, USC, Ole Miss, Arkansas have literally zero chance of ever competing.

Honestly, the only way this works is if the SEC disbands from the NCAA and just makes their conference its own league, which is what they may be positioning themselves for. Just go grab 12 more teams and form your own league.

Miami may need to start positioning itself to align with the SEC if that happens.

Definitely not texas. The ou history suggest they will be a real player

Though they are often lumped together due to the rivalry - ou has enjoyed more national success with a history of winning more conference championships save the lost 90s

Since the 70s texas has struggle to string along conference ships in the old swc, old big 12, and current setup. Don't see them suddenly doing that in sec

You could be right. But people have a recency bias, and that was my point. What I mean is this…you don’t join a conference for one year (unless it’s the ACC and you’re Notre Dame). You join for a generation.

In the next decade, Nick Saban will retire. Alabama won’t always be the king of the SEC. Who’s to say a program like Texas or OU aren’t going to be next to take over the mantle? They certainly have the resources. Either of those schools has the ability to match anyone in the SEC penny for penny, dollar for dollar, including Alabama. And now they’ll recruit like them as well.

Everyone thought A&M would fail in the SEC, but they’ve done fine. Texas is no less than A&M, and OU certainly isn’t.

Texas blows. They act like they are something special. They have everything and I mean everything at their disposal and still can't win. That is all.

The perception of the $EC with recruits is going to be on another level. This hurts the rest of the nation. ACC or Miami need to make moves to compete with this super league.

You can make an argument for them being interchangeable, but I think Baylor's recent athletic success makes them more of a splash announcement.

Living in DFW, what I can tell you is TCU won’t move the needle for that “market” and neither will Baylor.

Honestly, with A&M, Texas, and OU in the SEC….that conference has locked up 90% of Texas.

Reality question. Do people really want Miami? They want the recruiting grounds but don't want the team. That said, Miami is good for ratings and since money is the end all be all, maybe that helps Miami. You may want to get a little proactive and not reactive if you are the University of Miami.

I'm not talking about the local market, but which would be more newsworthy nationally.
