OP can never critique a meal, unless he is an iron chef champion.

OP can never criticize a video game, unless he has won awards for his designs.
OP can never lament his vehicle breaking down, unless he is a top tier engineer with a flawless design of his own.
OP can never call into question government decision making, unless he has made those decisions himself from a top tier elected position.


These things sound ridiculous right? I mean, in every circumstance, you are contributing financially and have a certain expectation for return on your investment.

How is it any different, as a booster of this program, with a baseline of expectation set over a 30 year span, to be unhappy about what I am supporting financially?
 
Ok I will play the game...i was a very average (at best) D1 college football player. As a coach; 2 years D1 college & 25 years as a HS head coach. I have coached 8 QB'S that have played college football (most of them NAIA level) I would say many of the comments on here are silly. But like many have said you don't have to be the most knowledgeable football coach in the world to see Miami is poorly coached. The whole should be greater than the individual talent...We are quiet opposite. Let's take our 3-4 defense, in today's world of spread offenses it is a great defensive scheme, easly adjusted to an over or under front with minimal teaching. But many successful 3-4 teams are using a combo coverage like.... lose or tight man on the perimeter verticle 2 robber techniques from the safeties, and match up zones for the under coverage as a base. Then mix in some true zone coverages like quarters or cover 3 and then also some straight zero or cover 1....We do not do a good job here!
The only time they 2 gap is vs 10 personnel and that is only from the NG. Any 11 or 21 personnel they are sliding to over (11) or under (21) and 1 gapping. You have to do some personnel matching here....we do not do a good job here!
QB's pre snap read the Over coverage and then when the ball is snapped their progressions essentially attack the Under coverage. Well we use traditional zone drops and cover grass never turning and getting under routes. This is a QB'S dream coverage. Easy to read and easy progressions. Also hard to 2 gap and get a good pass rush. In a nutshell it is the details that make a defense or offense work....everything looks good on paper but if you don't coach the heck out of little details you will have a hard time being successful even against weaker talent. Miami coaching staff seems to focused on appearance of program fluff but not focused on the details of legitimate techniques and schematics that are the difference makers in games. Been watching the Canes since the late 70's we are at a real low point in the program.

And I've watched coaches and u know the good ones and bad ones. He fooled a lot of us he's a decent recruiter who's just hit his stride recruiting because of sfla hires but it's way too late. He's lost elite players and it's cost him.
 
I beat Uncle Luke at Madden once. Then again, we were playing on one of those displays at Best Buy that cuts the game out after like 5 minutes but Luke really seemed to know all the tricks.

I don't think I sounded ridiculous. I was simply asking because a lot of the comments on this board are way off. I too am completely unhappy with a lot of our play. I too think Golden should replace Kehoe, Coley, and D'Onofrio. I think Golden does a lot of good things. Our clock mangament has improved. We no longer waste time outs, Our special teams has improved. We have more talent, I think, than we have had in 10 yrs. But his politician type talk and always giving his coaches a pass does not sit well with me. He will not last unless he makes some changes to the staff.

I hate our defensive philosophy. I do think so far through 2 games that we are slightly better on defense but I still hate having McCord or a LB cover slot guys. Only twice last night did I see us in a real pass defense. Things have to change for us to become what we all want us to be.

Just asking for some real football conversation and less *****ing.
 
Who hired Al to be our HC? A committee composed of Belichick, Lombardi, and Bear Bryant? Or a woman whose closest connection to football is her prolate spheroid physique?

You don't have to be Cy Sperling to spot a ****** hair piece. And you don't have to be Vince Lombardi to know when a HC sucks.

Special teams is better? We just torched vs Looserville and when is the last time we blocked or tried to block punt? We use to go after the punt all the time now we sit back and only try to return them everytime?

Execution, philosophy, play calling, preparation, special teams and whatever else...Just re-watch the final two minutes of yesterdays first half.

I think the point is there is nobody here qualified to truly understand the schemes and planning at this level. Note the first year defensive players talk about learning the playbook and how much more complex it is from high school, which is the level the majority of posters come with. Example, please stop with the complaint about a DE or hybrid OLB covering a slot receiver. It is a short zone assignment and most college and pro teams do the same thing. In short, whine and moan all you want but please try to at least have a passing acquaintance with the subject you whine about.
