Real talk on the new staff

Beard must be retained IMO, along with Scott.

I tend to agree with this

Even though our staff greatly under achieved, they were, for the most part, very good recruiters with a lot of local ties. That being said, I'd rather have a staff of great coaches as opposed to a staff full of guys known more for recruiting - because that's pretty much what we had with the previous regime.
The crootin' will take care of itself once we start winning and contending on a consistent basis
Our TE's and WR's have excelled under Scott and KB, they gotta be retained

Here's Golden French Fries trying to dictate how Richt should hire his staff. Why did we even bother hiring Richt, when we had such a football genius in our midst.

HAHAHAHAHAHA it must KILL YOU that Botch wasn't even in 2nd place. Funny how I don't see him being offered anywhere else either.

If Richt doesn't get fired or doesn't share Larranaga's agent (which I didn't previously know), we're likely looking at Butch as our current coach.

Don't say that, it's the one thing thats keeping me from getting overly excited about this hire.

No thanks.

They can all kick rocks.

Richt has done just fine recruiting and developing; 70+ Drafted players in 13 years.

Alfred Goldens staff doesn't belong anywhere near Miami.

Real talk, huh?

I enjoy ignoring most of what you say, but calling Beard a "recruiter" type makes you completely blind to the progress he's made with our WRs.

Beard hasn't made any "progress" with the wide receivers. All of the receivers on the team, with the exception of Coley, are a lot worse than they were the previous year.

Most of that is because outside of Coley, none of them do anything really well and they didn't have Phillip Dorsett to create space for them. They are all average. Beard has done nothing to prove he is some kind of good coach. Maybe he is, and that's something Richt can evaluate. But it certainly didn't show up on the field this year.

There is nobody that NEEDS to be retained. Nobody is that valuable. Turnover happens all the time. We don't need a link to the old staff unless CMR wants it

I agree. Don't think there are any "must retains." If he wants to keep Ice or Scott, sounds good. If not, sounds good.

I trust Richt's judgment and I am confident he won't get conned into keeping subpar coaches in order to "keep the community happy" or "show love to the alums."

You gotta assume part of the talks with Richt was that he gets to completely call the shots.

Too much politics going on with our previous corches such as Kehoe, Swasey, Ice, etc etc

Agree that Beard has done nothing to prove is an elite coach yet. The sample size is way too small. However, Herb, Rashawn, and Stacy have all improved from previous years. That is a positive sign from a first year coach.

Likewise, I will trust Richt's judgement on all hiring decisions so I am not worried about who he keeps.

I disagree. Herb Waters was worse than he was last season, and Scott was basically the same player he was in 2012. I didn't see anything out of our WR's this year to make me say "wow, Beard is getting a lot out of that guy." Coley just looked like a slightly more consistent version of his freshman self. But a lot of that is because our WR's just aren't very good, though I suspect Scott and Coley will look a better with Richt coaching them.

If Kevin Beard was a white dude who went to Syracuse, and the kids played exactly as they have, not a single person would care to have him on staff.

Herb is having the best year of his career. That's just wrong. Scott too.

They're having the "best" years of their careers because they're starting. Not because they are actually improved or better players.

I get the no Miami ties part of your analogy, but what does white dude vs. black guy have to do with anything? Oh, wait ... I see. Since race colors your perception of everything you see, you project it onto the rest of us. You just can't help yourself, can you?

He's an obvious racist. Numerous instances. Should be banned.

I feel like if I had the energy to research it, I could use some numbers to refute this.

I think Coley, Scott and Waters all look much improved this year. Scott is reliable, and a periodic playmaker, runs strong routes and attacks the ball. Waters has been much more consistent this year, a few dazzling plays and a few mental lapses. And Coley is back in form. I'm not seeing what you're seeing, right, wrong or otherwise.

I almost think the school will ask for Scott to be retained but to be fair, TE's have developed nicely. The rest can go although I'd like Beard to stay. S
