Real Question

I know I'm in the minority on this one... but I actually think Golden will get it turned around at Miami. I think he'll succeed reasonably well here, and go on to another head coaching job.

Two years ago we won 9 games. Last year, we were in every game we played, and the only reason for our record IMO is that the team quit on the coaches and on each other after the FSU game. That should have been a 9/10 win season. We didn't only win 6 because of coaching, that happened because our players gave up. It is what it is.

Next year, we'll be even more talented than last year. I think a 10 win, ACC type season is very possible. And if that happens, you add in the 2016 class, and we've got this thing pointed in the right direction FINALLY.

Maybe that's just my over-optimism, but I could see it playing out that way.

So because we won 9 games last year, you think he'll turn it around? You realize that those 9 wins were smoke and mirrors, right? Struggling to beat UF and Wake, at home, no less. Non-conf games of Savannah St and FAU. It was a sham. It was exposed by Louisville in the bowl.

This past year, the schedule was even easier. And we performed worse. The team next year will be less talented.

So yes, it is your over-optimism. Al Golden is not a good coach. Period.

lol yeah 9 wins is acceptable please stfu we will have a losing record again next year. Only thing that will save the recruiting class after he is fired we hire somebody that is respected in Miami like Butch Davis.

First and foremost, I've been one of the most vocal Golden hater on this board. However, I have a question...do you think the pressure for Golden to succeed here finally comes to fruition as a means for him to get another gig elsewhere?

He has a GOLDEN opportunity at the U....He is getting paid lots of $$$$, has a crazy extension, and has the admin by their nutt sack...I honestly don't think he is really caring about the fanbase noise.... The most important people have his support so what gives...if he fails he fails...I think they have reassured him 2-3 years...lolololololol

9 wins is 9 wins.... and the Louisville team we lost to was better than it was given credit for. I think they finished 11-1 or something.

The only "mirage" was losing 7 games last year. That only happened because the team quit. That team should have won 9-10 games.

Well that's your opinion, my opinion is that we're going to win 10+ games next year and finally turn the corner.

I think this year was a fluke. I think we were a decent team that struggled early because we had a freshman QB, and struggled late because the team quit after FSU.

LOSER...Miami cant beat a subpar team...How do you not see that??????? LOLOL...

This aint about cupcakes...its about our ability to beat legit teams... we can't beat a team with 8 wins...the teams we beat are barely over .500

9 wins isnt 9 wins. A team called Albion won 9 games. You think that's the same as miami winning 9 games? **** golden's 9 wins aren't the same as Shannon in 2009. His 9 wins came as a direct result of the teams on the schedule being past sorry.

So the games that REALLY reflect how good Miami was were what? Cincinnati, UNC, and VT? All those were really bad in 2014. If you struggle early, struggle late, and only come out to play against really bad teams, guess what? You're bad.

Maybe it is Golden's fault that the team quit TWO YEARS IN A ROW after losing to FSU. But then again, maybe that's on the players too for quitting.

A coach can't MAKE you play hard. These kids that gave up.... that's on them. That speaks to who they are as much as it speaks to who this coaching staff is.

The kids, as we are so often reminded, are student-athletes. They have more than one thing to worry about. And there are a lot of them.

There is one head coach, and his ONLY job is to make the football team good. The football team is not good. The point of paying somebody lots of money to hold a position like that is to have a single point of failure, so that when the WHOLE TEAM just quits, you can point and say, "you're supposed to keep them interested."

Yet another person blaming players for something that has repeatedly happened under this staff. Same coaches, different players same results...that's the coaches.

LOL @ this guy getting all worked up.

Would it have been better if we would have beat Nebraska but lost to Cincinnati? LOL 9 wins is 9 wins. You are what your record says you are.

Could we have done better? Sure. Would have been much better if we didn't have a team full of kids who quit, and then who whine to the media once they leave (or have their mommy do it for them, in some cases).

My mom stopped fighting my battles for me when I was like 9 years old. But we got too many whiners and crybabies and mammas boys on our team right now, and that's the kind of team that quits two years in a row because they can't handle losing to a rival.

This team needs to toughen up.

Is that on Golden? Yeah, partly. Partly it's the culture of the team. Needs to get better.

Yo, you're killing me B, golden sucks man, get over it.

I'm not a fan of Golden, but I think we have a talented team returning, and I think people want to put 100% of the blame on the coach for last season when there's a lot more that went in to our 6-7 record than just "scheme."

Other teams may be padding the schedule also. You think that's gives miami a pass? Lmao. Bottom line is golden's body of work speaks for itself. He's never beaten a team worth a dam.

Notice how you failed to mention another team like Lsu might win 9 games but they actually beat a couple teams with a pulse and they have a coach who is proven. That's the difference. If you think 9 wins are the same across the board you are a lost cause.
