Whose responsibility is it on this team to avoid delay of game? If you have a situation where the play comes in late, required a lot of motion, etc., and it's evident the ball will not be snapped in time, is it Jarren's job or Manny's job to call the timeout? We had 2 yesterday. Looked like Karen had his hands full doing everything a QB has to do pre snap. Seems to me it's on Manny, including whether to take the 5 or burn the TO.

There were 2 delays of game yesterday and I know 1 was in the first half, when TOs are less valuable.

Who is supposed to call it in this offense?

I actually thought the same thing because on one of them they had the camera on Manny and he appeared to just be watching it all unfold as a spectator in slow motion as I was waiting in vain for the refs to announce a timeout was called.

This isn't unique to Manny though. I've almost thrown many a beer bottles through my tv as I screamed at Mike Tomlin about this (and other clock management issues) on Sundays.
 
Can’t help ya. I would blame the O coach, JW needs to be aware. But in the heat of the game. I go with coach
 
An experienced QB knows whether he has time to get play off or not. He would call it. Not Jarrens case though. Someone on sideline should be tracking and let Manny know. Head coach usually has things he is focusing on. Head coach should make sure this is happening though

It depends..I personally wouldn’t waste early timeouts in the half on delay of games..I think most coaches shad that philosophy..especially in the 3rd n 1st quarters
 
I won't excuse it but you have to understand why a lot of these Delay of game penalties happen at every level.

Coming out of a timeout, injury, play review, etc., can disrupt the timing and rhythm as teams get used to a certain amount of time. Coaches and players are used to; ending a play – setting the ball – calling the play – substitutions – huddle – walking to the LoS – pre snap.

It is no excuse as 100s of teams deal this just fine but all those 100s of teams also get caught now and then, even the Patriots.

Announcers often crucify a team for delay of game, especially coming out of a timeout but it can happen to any team and has happen to every team.
