I don't disagree with this list, but Texas? I live in Texas and I don't even think people here would agree with that. Whoever wrote this must be a UT grad or something.

I wouldn't put Miami in Tier 1 though either because we had our run from the mid-80's to the early 2000's, and then we haven't done **** since. So as far as the rest of the world is concerned, maybe we were just a flash in the pan. Like UNLV was in basketball.

Just because someone makes a graphic and puts it on the internet doesn’t make it real. Maybe someone on this board can make one with us at the top and send it out?

ALL these MFing Incredibly Large Public Schools, with UNLIMITED funding, and yet, it was a small Private School that Layed waste to the Entire Football landscape for the better part of 30yrs....How F-ing embarrassing is that.....
This is something that people really, really don't grasp at all.

Really this list should be post world war 2. If we’re doing all time where is Princeton? Don’t they have a million championships? I’m fine with where we are

If you’re really making an all-time tier list, you have to include quite a few more programs that dominated their day but aren’t great today. You have to consider that college football dates back to the 19th century and Ivy League schools like Harvard and Yale dominated like Alabama does today. Army is another program that should be included.

And yes, none of those teams would stand a chance against a modern team but the game is completely different today. Even having black players at non HBCs is something that’s only come around over the last 50 years. Guy didn’t even lift weights until the late 70’s. The idea that gaining muscle would make you slow was widely considered accurate. College football was a “one platoon” sport until 1964. There was one 11 man platoon and they all played offense, defense and special teams. You could only sub at halftime or because of injury. Like soccer. Once a guy subbed out, he could not return. Every position was iron man. Think about it. 1964 wasn't really that long ago

That's not accurate if you're judging national championships.

Who do you think would be the top 3 in national championships since 1970?
  • Alabama - 10
  • Miami - 5
  • Nebraska - 5
  • Oklahoma - 4
  • USC - 4
  • Clemson - 3
  • Florida - 3
  • Florida State - 3
  • LSU - 3
  • Notre Dame - 3
  • Ohio State - 3
We should have 3 more

Bro, since 2004 The Tier 2 teams have had more 10+ game seasons, more division titles, more conference titles, more bowl game victories, etc. Nebraska has been complete *** since 2012, but again we’re talking a long standing tradition. SC brought football attention to the WC, something that was dominated by EC & MW schools. Nebraska & UT football have always been associated as good Ole fashion college football that’s produced legends.

Again, it’s called all time, not 30 years.
I get that it’s “all time” - so why no Harvard/Yale/Army/Navy? Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Like I said - get rid of everything in leather helmets/pre-integration (that was a completely different game, the rules have literally changed) and what does the list look like?

And - you did say “still relevant today.” Most recent (pre 2020 - we would’ve been first in the coastal had there been divisions this year) division title -
2009 - Texas
2012 - Nebraska (gave up 70! in the chip)
2017 - Miami
2017 - usc
Point being... none of those teams is still relevant today.

B/c none of those aforementioned teams won a National championship or been close to competing for a National championship post WWII. Lol. Most of Yale’s national titles came when it was like a league of 8. Lol.

Anyways, SC just won their division this season, bruh. And the point is, again, all time. It’s a miracle we’ve positioned ourselves as a tier 3 in a window of 30 yrs! These programs r still synonymous w/ College Football, recency biased be damned. We are not a traditional power; we were & are a flash in the pan program that had a Bama like run from the early 80’s - early 2000’s. Literally 20 years. We have done CHIT since then. U don’t become a tier 1 or 2 program for 20 years of work! Get over it.

Had we continued our dominance, ****, not even winning National championships, but rather be at least in the ACCCG during these last close to 20 yrs, I’m going to assume we bump up to the next tier.

The fact we are ahead of Clemson, and Clemson has been a solid - dominant program for the past decade is all u need to know regarding the OVERALL body of these school’s pedigrees, champ! I’m going to also assume, Heismans, National Awards, All Americans, Draft picks, HOFers produced over the last 75 years are all being taken into consideration.

So instead of u or any others getting defensive, u should be honored to know that we’re considered in the top 3 tiers when we’ve only had a 20 year run.

Before 1983, it was Miami who? We had absolutely NO history of championship caliber football. Sure, we had a few AA’s, but never came close to a even sniffin’ a natty Many of today’s fans have no clue about our history before 1983.

I’ve actually learned a bit about the pre championship years from some of the old timers here. I was born in 79 so I had no idea about anything UM football related in the old days besides occasional articles. From what I’ve gathered (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong older guys who remember the 60’s and 70’s) UM was a decent football program through 1950’s and 60’s. Not a championship caliber program by any means but a decent program that usually had a winning record and some occasional all American talent. The wheels started falling off in the late 60’s and the 70’s were generally a crap fest.
