RB1

Career stats mean nothing. James played like 2.5 seasons, comparing the two is useless.

Fletcher’s physicality will be needed in the playoffs, and he’ll remain RB1. Plus his blitz pickups have been much better this season, and that’s needed with an OL that struggled to communicate on passing downs. But Mallory might be the better pure RB right now, and deserves about 8-10 touches a game minimum.
James had 489 career carries, Fletcher has 433 career carries. I understand Mallory is the flavor of the month, but he is not a better running back than Mark Fletcher at this current moment.

Didn't the Rays start the season with like 80-1 odds to win the Series? Maybe the better outlook is they made it this far because of the team's emphasis on analytics?
Let’s be honest, the entire AL aside from the Yankees was awful this year. Kevin Cash ***** down his leg every postseason because of analytics. Cost them in 2020 when he pulled a dealing Blake Snell and put one of the worst arms on their roster in the game (Ian Seymour) and got his **** ripped. He almost cost them game 6 in the ALCS too.

Idiots who pay too much attention to this stuff think Chandler Simpson sucks but he’s out here hitting over .300 in the regular season.

Board might be shocked to hear how much we use analytics to decipher between recruits, portal evaluations, game prep, nutrition, in-game adjustments, injury recovery, film preparation, etc. They probably think Mario sits in a dark room by himself and just pulls all the right levers as God.

Mario deserves a TON of credit for modernizing our program across a myriad of departments, including analytics. His decision making is (correctly) more aggressive than in Year 1. Only blemish was that Wake decision to kick a 50+ yard field goal, but can forgive one-offs. His attention to detail extends into analytics, support staff…I mean guys, basically all good sports teams emphasize analytics. And all good leaders know how valuable data is, how it uncovers edges to be used in game.

Look at Ok St and Oregon, uncovering OL and Dante Moore tendencies. Look at Cig with Oregon (yikes Lanning) in the playoff game, the very first play.

Wake up, it’s 2026.

"Man Lyle is that DUDE. At some point, we need to do what is going to eventually happen and replace Fletcher with him" - 2024

"Are you kidding me? Have you seen Pringle and the extra gear he has? Fletcher will never have that. Give Pringle the nod!" - 2025

"Mallory is the future. Its time to make that move and make him the starter." - 2026.

You guys have been trying to bench Fletcher for literally 3 years now. Then the 2025 CFP happened and all of you went silent or jumped back on his bandwagon. RELAX. Its a LONG season we are preparing for. If you dont think Fletcher is on "load management" for the CFP run..then your lost and need to post less.

Fletcher will get the start unless injured. But as far as I'm concerned they are 1A and 1B. Down the stretch I'd expect them to get closer to 50/50 or just roll with whoever has the hot hand in each particular game.

Love Fletch fwiw, but Mallory has looked better behind our OL.

For all that Mark Fletcher has done for the program, he is still somehow one of the most disrespected players on the team. It's really sad

Man deserves a statue for what he's done for this program- both on and off the field
Couldn't believe my eyes when ppl were saying he should be relegated to RB3 during the szn last year smh **** is wild

This morning, Joe Rose asked Mario about his use of analytics and Mario only referenced using them during games. Mario said they look at the data in certain situations but mostly make decisions based on feel of the game.

Draw whatever conclusions you’d like with this information.
1) There is a bye week and a missed game that affects his stats vs some of the others that haven’t had a bye week yet or missed games.

2) A lot of blow outs

3) Yes, Mallory has been a more efficient runner with his opportunities and is more athletic, IMO.

4) Mark is still and will be the leading horse (pause).

5) Most of these guys are the only horses in the stable. Exception would be Louisville, Alabama, Texas, Georgia and Indiana RBs off the top of my head, where they are 2-3 RBs deep.

Him admitting looking at the decisions instead of going caveman Ferentz mode is all you need to hear as proof he’s let it into his life.

And we’re better off with it, as evidenced in the 4th down aggressiveness and short yardage defensive alignments.

Subconsciously, being right makes you want to repeat the process. And usually, going for it on 4th and short is the right choice. Now you’re right in saying certain situations make you pause - recent injury, time left on clock etc. He’s right about that requiring some feel on game state.

Fletch is RB1, please stop with the nonsense. The thing that needs to improve is the rotation of RB’s by the RB coach. I swear it seems like he plays paper, rock, scissors on who he puts in the game at certain situations.

I don't understand how you guys are comparing Mallory this year to Pringle and Lyle previous years.

Mallory is built like an every down back. He is built like an NFL RB1. He has vision like an NFL RB1. He is so much better than anything we have had at running back in over 20 years.
