RB1

I don't understand how you guys are comparing Mallory this year to Pringle and Lyle previous years.

Mallory is built like an every down back. He is built like an NFL RB1. He has vision like an NFL RB1. He is so much better than anything we have had at running back in over 20 years.
& He’ll have his turn to be the feature back next year but right now he’s the perfect compliment to Fletcher who I suspect will turn it up a notch in the playoffs when we face the best of the best

Honestly he should be closer to 50% reps but fletcher is far advanced in pass blocking right now.

Mallory runs with more consistency in balance, vision, power than fletcher.

Caveat is that fletcher is a great to elite back going downhill. Huge disservice to not run more pistol because when he is downhill he is RB1 on almost any team in the country. Not true at all from the gun and especially short yardage duo. Note how that was browns game and still would be without injury

Mallory is better than Fletcher. I don't think it's close.

That said, Fletcher is going to be the starter. He's a leader. He runs hard. He blocks extremely well.

The Lyle camp was on the right track, or at least the staff thought so, evidenced by starting him in the '25 opener against ND. He subsequently had an awful season, but beat out Fletcher for the opening day nod.

Pringle played due to injury, and was very productive down the stretch (regular season) in '25. Lets acknowledge that he was indeed instrumental in the run to the playoffs. This of course preceded Fletcher's incredible run through the playoffs.

Many reasons to continue to start Fletcher (production in big games, blocking, leadership), but let's not stick our heads in the sand and act like Mallory hasn't been the better pure runner this season. The yards per carry, even against P5, aren't close.
Yall try n bench Fletcher every year n he just keeps on being our most complete back

Are we getting to a point where Mallory should be RB1? Could we even do that to Mark Fletcher in his final year after all he’s done for the program?

Confused Michael Jordan GIF

Nope but he needs more touches. His pass blocking was not great either. He missed on a couple.
Fletch is better at blocking, for me not debatable. Mallory has better vision and burst. Remember playoff time fletcher became a possessed man. We see that guy he is the number 1. Mallory is making this very interesting and I am excited to see what the next few years hold for him.

I’m still waiting on playoff Fletch. If he’s a little banged up let him rest until the ND game. He had a couple nice runs on Saturday where he showed that burst again. He essentially another lineman when he’s pass protecting..

Usually 1-3 of these a game. I’ve already said my praises for Mark, but the vision pales in comparison to what Mallory is showing as a freshman.

Mark wants to bulldoze everyone. A blessing, and a curse. I’m also not saying Mark isn’t worthy of being RB1; just save his legs for the playoffs and incorporate an extra 1-2 drives for Mallory down the stretch of the regular season.

Both of these guys will be weapons come postseason.

that's been mark's weakness from day one. he was atrocious year 1 and 2. he's gotten better at cutbacks but obviously more is better.

Weren’t you the guy campaigning for Pringle being our best pure runner based off a couple regular season games against scrubs last year ? How’s that working out ?
Said Pringle is better than Marty Brown and Mallory once upon a time. And @ShadowSpring kept begging for Pringle to get snaps against Pitt because he had a good game last year. It ain’t 2025 anymore.

Hypothetically, if we had Xavier Restrepo last year, wouldn't you say the same thing about him playing over Toney? Theres levels to this **** man. I agree Fletcher has been great. He should play a ton.

When we are lining up against Notre Dame up by 10 in the 4th quarter. Everyone knows we are running the ball. I want Mallory to be the one toting the rock.

Even if Playoff Fletcher appears the natives will still find something to ***** about.
