RB Delay / jet sweeps

It just makes too much sense to not use these guys in any way possible, the pre-snap motion can also help the QB read the defense to see if it's zone or man.

This is what’s mind boggling, if your ol is a weakness you scheme to protect it. Jet sweeps , motions , fakes makw the back side stay home. De’s vs us just crash down with no respect.

Guys like Briles, Chip, Frost , Urban and Clemson oc’s use smoke in mirrors. Just that little bit of candy can cause breakdowns. Eyes start wandering. And most importantly the de’s don’t crash down.

Our QB is our weakness.

I didn't watch the Samford game, but as with a lot of these small school QBs who we keep lamenting "but why can he do it and not us?!", I suspect he's reasonably accurate and, most importantly, knows how to run his system.

Rosier is neither - there's no point opening up the playbook when he can't read a defence. You need that QB to direct that smoke and mirrors operation.

Running motion or sweeps isn’t opening up the play book. It’s very basic, if you can run a zone read or rpo you can devinyekdefinitely do that. It’s jusg eye candy , nothing extra on the qb.

The simplest offenses in the country use this to nauseam.

The key to good offense...

I honestly don't remember seeing it, I was pretty drunk by that point.

We ran it once against LSU, when we were already having the rape kit used on us. It was a simple sweep , fake . Rosier scored but Homer would’ve scored too. LSU was shocked we did something so creative

Like I said by that point I was watching the game with one eye closed just to focus.

It opens up a lot of options. I listed a few above.

Plus we have the slot guys to run it (JT, DJ, Pope, Lingard, Harley). It's simple to run. Like I said, we did it in 2 games last year and whadda ya know, it worked. (and that was against VT & ND defense).

Should be a staple of our offense. It fits in well with the pistol look and RPOs.

What I like most about the sweep action is what it opens up downfield in the passing game. Safeties and OLB's tend to hesitate when seeing a slot guy motion across on a PA jet sweep - this could really open up the middle of the field for JT, Cager, and Richards. Deep crossing routes/shallow drags/deep posts/fly routes.

You are on point! I seen one dude say we want fsu's offence lol FSU doesnt have Thomas, Harley, Pope, Linguard, DJ Dallas those type of players either! Also we run a PRO set offence out of shotgun with a in line tight end an TE flexed out (12 formation) Fsu is a spread up tempo offence. Like what your saying man. Motion helps keep the defence on there heels speed kills. The last time Ohio State won a ring they did this to Bama knowing they couldnt beat them physical got em running sideline to sideline tires out a D an opens holes up the middle! Speed kills gotta know how to use it!

How so ? I’m just asking questions for my knowledge.

I explained it above. That’s why teams with undersized ol’s or ol talent use it. It slows down your pass rush , forces the back side to stay home on the run,and respect the give. It’s smoke and mirrors , it keeps the defenses eyes moving.

That’s why Clemson is so hard to stop, constant movement in spread formations. These kids tend to watch the candy , and causes busted assignments.

Just the one plat against is LSU is proof, rather than just running right at them , we gave them something to watch , which froze them for a split second.

The main reason Richt stepped down as OC was not because of play calling. It was because the AD wanted him more involved in fund raising and university related duties. He could not juggle both and basically he was forced to give up OC duties. Bobo had never been an OC before. He learned everything from Richt. If Richt play calling was so bad the AD would not have allowed his disciple to take over the responsibility. He would have hired an OC hot shot from outside the program. We are two games in but from what I see the play calling is much better, more versatile, better route trees, excellent red zone calls. The fact the OL has played like crap and Rosier being Rosier is hiding the fact that Richt has gotten his groove back with the play calling.

Mark Richt?

Exactly instead of having that Linebacker crashing that hole you could get him to hesitate an step out of the hole! If not Linebacker reads his key an against our oline we never get to the second level lol so hes runnin free!

You realize we ran a fake jet sweep against LSU on the Rosier TD, right? You will see that more often going forward.

I’ve heard Richt is holding back the playbook for 2 years now.

Yep. It's a big part of the reason that our OL looks bad. Not only do we not make the defense think, move their eyes, we also do nothing to change tempo, snap count, etc. A big part of offense in college is creating confusion (because they are young players) and getting easy opportunities for big plays, we don't do that. Very easy offense to game plan against.

There is a reason in the last 12 games we have scored 3 points on opening drives.

I said it needs to be a part of our every-game playbook. This whole wait for 2 games a year to mix things up is fvckin idiotic.

His offense is complete ****. And I've yet to see a simple RB delay handoff. Just give me something, consistently, to keep the defense off balance. We don't do it. You know it, I know it, Richt knows it.

And don't get me started on this crappy passing attack. It's old school, and easy as fvck to defend. Ask any DC we've played. They laugh.

There's a reason UGA forced Richt to bring in an OC (Mike Bobo). And SHOCKER, the offensive #'s went up big time.

www.footballoutsiders.com - take a look for yourself.

As much as I want to agree with you, there's a glaring issue right now that guys are wide open in this **** offense and our QB just isn't hitting them. Hard to blame the play calling at this point.
