Dead period ends on March 2, so I'm assuming that's when spring practice will start. If the Spring game is April 19, that's a lot of weeks of practice. Will be interesting to see if its April 12 (my original guess) or April 19 (implied by Gaby's visit date).

Running back is one of the priority positions in the class. The staff is in on Tyson Robinson (Jackson, MS), Elijah Kimble (Buffalo, NY), Brayden Tyson (Atlanta, GA), Myson Johnson-Cook (East St. Louis, IL), among others. The new RB coach's evaluations will help set the direction. ​

We're a few weeks away from spring unofficial visit season, which will kick recruiting into a new gear. Here's the latest I'm hearing:

- I don't expect this class to be as large as last year. It may be closer to 20 players than 30. The staff wants more natural attrition than forced roster movement, and they trusts their evaluations of the players already on the roster. The early returns on the 2027 class look strong.

- While he's picked up Oregon buzz, I expect Miami to make an aggressive run at QB Will Mencl (Chandler, AZ). He's originally from Broward and is someone Miami...

At running back, RB Myson Johnson-Cook (East St. Louis, IL) is a name to watch. He is 6'2, 233 and runs a laser-timed 4.4 forty. Johnson-Cook has an official visit and two unofficial visits scheduled, including tomorrow. RB Elijah Kimble (Buffalo, NY) is another huge target. He is making the visit this week with his mother, as is Johnson-Cook. The Canes also love Honor Fa'alave Johnson (San Diego, CA) and David Gabriel Georges (Chattanooga, TN) but those feel like long shots.​

RB Myson Johnson-Cook (East St. Louis, IL) remains a monster priority and has two more visits on deck. Tyson Robinson (Jackson, MS) and Elijah Kimble (Buffalo, NY) remain top targets. Two new names to monitor: David Segarra (Greenville, SC) and Brennan Lacey (Dallas, TX). Lacey lives with the family of Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty. ​

Recruiting is about to kick into high gear with a flurry of spring visits on deck. Here is the latest:

- There are three names to monitor at quarterback: Will Mencl (Chandler, AZ), Davin Davidson (Sarasota, FL) and Israel Abrams (Chicago, IL). Davidson has been on campus and Mencl and Abrams have visits on deck. It's still too early to call this one, as the visits are key and the QB position is always subject to dominoes falling at other schools. But these are the names in play right now.
