Per Gus Bradley, when asked what stood out most about OTAs:

“Rayshawn has done a nice job, the safety we drafted out of Miami. To come in and play with poise, to be able to play fast with poise (is impressive). I think for him, sometimes you have to cover tight ends with safeties in this league, and the little bit we’ve seen from him doing that, he’s a younger guy who has caught our eye…. We’re trying to get more flexible with our safeties, but right now, he is more of a down safety for us. In OTAs, to see his ability to cover tight ends, and to play where things are happening behind him, sometimes that takes an adjustment, because it’s really a LB type guy. He’s jumped in nice with that.”

Thanks for the update. Excited for him and not the least bit surprised. We've been talking about him as a likely NFL contributor for years. Even during the dark days.

Best safety out of miami in years imo(over Deon). He's a complete safety that was very athletic and can hit/ make plays on the ball.

Freshman db Derrick smith reminds me a lot of rayshawn jenkins however he might eventually slide down to linebacker or play that hybrid role

Jenkins was the most underrated player at UM I can remember. You didn't hear about him much because he rarely gave up plays and made sure but unspectacular tackles. A starter since he stepped on campus. He clinched the UF game at home with a INT in the redzone. His combine stats were the best of any safety not named Peppers. He will make it in the league for a while.

hes was always pretty good in coverage its just people hate on him cuz of that one play vs cincy

Need DP to make that next step this year and for R.J to crack that starting rotation by year's end.

I mean that INT was the first of that game and pretty early. Yes it was in the red zone but Tracy had one there too and we got a fumble recovery before halftime. All in the red zone or pretty darn close so I wouldn't say that clinched the game.

Tracy did have the game clincher...you're right. Jenkins set the tone for the game.

Most valuable players every NFL draft are Cane guys. To get late round Canes = winning success.

****, even the All-American picks who go high usually aren't valued high enough.

Not surprised either.. Still waiting for the pads but I can't remember any time I got mad at Rayshawn except when he dropped picks.
