Now that the emotion has subsided we need to take a look at where we are and where we’re going. The truth of the matter is that Mario was at the top of the list of every major team in the country that needed a new head football coach. He also built a juggernaut in Oregon so he has been there and done that. Additionally with his contract the administration is going to give him every opportunity to succeed. Just take a look at the Seminoles and how they have improved with out the recruiting ability that Mario has.

Mario is one of the best recruiters in the country that is unquestionable I fully expect that we will have a turnover of at least 40 players this off-season. This infusion of talent should be the first step at us being a power program.

For now I will hold off bashing Mario until this time next year. Whether he makes a move on coaches, coordinators or any other staff will be secondary to bringing in talented players.

Oregon hasn't been a juggernaut since the Chip Kelly days. They were good under Mario but also benefitted from a down Pac-12. Oregon never went undefeated under him and he had a reputation of losing games he shouldn't. I was there at the Oregon v Arizona game in 2018 when Arizona ran all over them. For me the verdict is out on how great of a coach he truly is, but his off-season moves will be very crucial for the state of the program going forward. Until then I remain skeptical on him turning this thing around in year 2. If Mario has to "get his guys in" then we are looking at year 3 or 4 until Miami truly starts competing for the ACC title.

Truth of the matter?

What other school was interested in Mario?

And what other coach was Miami interested in besides Mario?

none we know of publicly but that could be due to miami zeroing in on him. he did a good job at Oregon. no one can take that away from him, but that is the past now.

that second question is what has been our issue since we fired golden. we only looked at richt (which was our best coach since butch). we only looked at Manny. we only looked at Mario. the boosters pushed for Manny. this time the boosters pushed for Mario. its the same process

This “losing now in order to win later” kinda thingy disturbs me like black n white checker squares or lines cause epileptic seizures in some people.

Sigh...... where are we? good question. After listening again to yesterday's press conferences, listening also to the post game media I don't have a good feeling about changes to the staff... I hope I'm wrong. I know there's strong optimism that Gattis and others will be gone. But it sure seems to me the message is the system is right, it's just not working because the team isn't good enough and hasn't bought in. Maybe it's all coach speak and Mario realizes that he needs to adjust his offensive philosophy as he builds the team. We'll know in a month.....

Sigh, indeed.

I don't necessarily want him gone right now, but the moves he makes in the next couple of months will be telling....

But i did want Mark Stoops.
He wasn't my first choice, but I relented and became optimistic. We'll see how it goes, but if he continues to recruit at a high level, at the the cupboard will be full for the next guy.

It's coach speak. Gattis is gone.

anything can change with the right hires so im not out on Mario bc I know he will recruit better talent. for me, the coaching job done this year was inexcusable. we aren't competitive even against mediocre teams. Mario better thank the admin that we have Clemson and ATM at home next year otherwise that stadium wouldn't be close to filled.
