Not including the current unfinished season, I’d rate them as

1. 2004
2. 2005
3. 2017
4. 2016
5. 2009
6. 2013
7. 2008
8. 2012
9. 2011
10. 2010
11. 2015
12. 2018
13. 2006
14. 2014
15. 2007

As depressing as it sounds, 2004-2005 is better than any seasons since.

Generally a pile of crud, especially outside the top 5.

#6-14 are all interchangeable. I ranked them pretty randomly. 2007 has clearly been the worst season.

This is the thread you see some time around June when there is no football, no football news, no spring practice and you (or your girl) have long blown any tax return money you got if you even got one.

Yeah, not a good subject.

After a quick look I would easily flip '16 and '17.
Ending the year with a bowl win/5 straight trumps a 10 win season where we lost the last 3.

So let's focus on ending the year the same way we did in '16.

16 was the better roster.

2017 10-3
2004 9-4
2005 9-4
2016 9-4
2009 9-4
2013 9-4

the rest:

2010 - 6 losses
2008 - 6 losses
2011 - 6 losses
2012 - 5 losses
2015 - 5 losses
2014 - 7 losses

2004 and 2005 were 9-3, not 9-4.

There were only 11 regular season games in those days.

What is needed is a Top 5 list of relative acceptable seasons since 2003.

1. 2017

2. 2005

3. 2004

4. 2009

5. 2016

2016: Yes, it was Richt's first season as head coach, but at least Miami soundly defeated a legitimate Top 15 team in W. Virginia. Quote which was sweet music to Miami fans big ears. " The BEST defense we faced all season long. " Yikes. The defense performance against W. Virginia was a positive harbinger for defensive happenings in 2017.

2017: As the season progressed, Miami became a national CFG figure once again among the CFB media-nexus. Enter ESPN's CFGD. And TEN of 12 regular season games being televised NATIONALLY, and not on the ACC network. In other words, Miami was FINALLY being talked about again, in a positive light and all that.

Having no clue how to get the most impact out of Devin Hester or be cutting edge offensively is the reason the 2004 and 2005 Miami teams weren’t playing for national championships.

We didn’t have enough impact playmakers on the offensive side of the ball those years and accepted it with Devin Hester on the roster 🤡

2017 is still pretty overrated by this board, even after the bad end to the year. The 2004 and 2005 teams would have beaten the 2017 team. The 2017 team probably had more lucky wins than the 04-05 teams did combined. And the 2004-2005 teams only got totally owned by an opponent once (the LSU game)- not 3 times like the 2017 team did.

TBH, I actually agree with an earlier poster who said I probably should flip 2016 and 2017. I put 2017 as #3 mostly to cater to people who still buy into the myth of the 10-0 start, the turnover chain and the big ND game.

Yep. Hester absolutely exploded in the league once the NFL figured out how to use him outside of special teams.

The 2017 team wasn't great but had Richards, Herndon and Walton not gotten hurt things may have ended better.

I put them first because they won the division, 10 games.
