Rankings…

Yes because they have road wins vs Georgia and Missouri, and home wins vs Vandy and Tennessee. Their loss was on the road and ours was at home. Their loss was also early and they've improved a great deal, while we have been playing worse.

They are significantly more deserving at this point.
Losing early vs late is obviously better.

My overall point was about the SEC and you are making it. All of the victories you state is within their conference.

Is Vandy really that good? We know Texas stinks.

UGA is good. Their best win.

UGA ain’t that good.

They are not necessarily.

If GT and Lville win out and play in the ACC champ game and Gt wins are they taking an 11-1 Miami over Louisville who beat them in Miami?

If not you are asking a lot from the committee to put 3 ACC teams in the playoffs.

I’m not saying this is how the season necessarily shakes out. My point is going 11-1 and getting in is not a sure thing.
100% a sure thing

I’m so ******* sick of this “Bama has drastically improved” bull****. The same issues that killed them ahainst FSU still exist. They still can’t stop the run, particularly if the QB is mobile, and they still can’t run the ball. If they play FSU again right now they might not lose by two touchdowns but I genuinely don’t think the outcome is all that different. They’re the exact same team they were.

No team is perfect.

But their resume is dramatically better than ours. Our 2nd best win is an unranked G5 team at home.

Rankings are an SEC beauty pageant. Texas A&M appears to be the real deal, but Bama & UGA are solid though clearly a notch below what they have been. Watching games yesterday SEC marquee teams were in a lot of cases in pillow fights & fortunate to win. That said, don’t understand UVA’s ranking. Lost to NC State & fortunate in all of their wins - think 2 or 3 OT.

unlike last year Miami isn't getting ranked behind teams with more losses and that's all that matters. Just win and we're in

You’re eating up the SEC hype… just like they want you to… “They have road wins versus Georgia, Missouri, Candy, and Tennessee…” all of which are (should be) middle of the pack teams this year.

Not really my point. They haven’t changed, is my point. They should’ve lost yesterday to a 3 win team because the exact issues that killed them against FSU still exist.

I’m not arguing their resume. I’m arguing people throwing out the week 1 game and claiming they’ve become a different team since.

That scenario is out there, although I don't think it will happen.
I won't get into it again this week.

Take your tinfoil hat off and look at the hard data. The SEC has the best nonconference record (P4 only) by far, puts the most players in the NFL, and gets the most blue chip recruits.

It's obvious they are the best league.

That's a terrible use of data. First, that is a small sample size. Second, it doesn't consider who plays who in those games. For example, Alabama beating Wisconsin isn't a flex, considering that everyone in the Big 10 also beats Wisconsin.

The top 8 is what it is. They have the paths to the playoff. The rest will play itself out.

Stop worrying about Vandy, they’ll be a 3 loss team. BYU/TT play each other in a couple weeks and don’t have cake walks left. They aren’t both getting in. ND ain’t getting in over us. OU/Tenn play an elimination game this weekend. Mizzou has A&M this weekend and OU later. As for the ACC teams in that mix (UVA/Ville), they’ll sort themselves out as usual.

No we don't need to resort to such a ridiculous argument, because the simple arguments works well enough: they beat a pretty good team and we didn't.
Well, in simpler terms. Common opponent record is a high tie breaker in all conferences.
Bama lost to our common opponent, which we won.

I wouldn’t argue that though, at this point.

I would argue that we have a stronger resume than Vandy or Oregon.

UM has beaten the current #12 team.
Vandy has beaten the current #19 team.
Oregon has beaten no current Top 25 teams.

It never has and it never will, brother!!

The BCS system raped and murdered us in front of the entire nation in 2000 by not giving us the opportunity to play for the natty because we barely lost 1 game at the beginning of the season.

Yet they let a one loss team, that we beat head to head later in the season, jump us in the polls to keep us from playing for a national title.

Meet the new Boss. Same as the Old Boss!
Same as it ever was.

Meaningless, unless one looks at the actually opponents.

The SEC teams in the Top 10 are 1-1 against the ACC. A loss to FSU and a win against VT.

So how does that out of conference record hold up? It means the Top SEC played the sisters of the poor from each conference.
So, let’s see a breakdown of who played & their records. Important to look inside the numbers.

It's the same trend for 20+ years lol and the advanced stats always rank the SEC as the best conference

It's ludicrous to even suggest the SEC isn't the best lol

Sure, go ahead and use advanced metrics then.

Pick any you want. I looked up Sagarin and SEC is #1 there by a wide margin.

The SEC is obviously the best conference.
