Rankings…

Seems fair, Miami has to be perfect while others can lose multiple times with litlte repercusion.

At the end of day I think 4 SEC teams will
Get in, and 3 Big 10 teams.

Texas A&M
Alabama
UGA
Ole Miss

Ohio State
Indiana
Oregon

G5 garbage team will get in
BYU/Texas Tech champion
Notre Dame
2 ACC teams-If Miami is 10-11 win team

Miami has 4 FPI top 40 wins 2nd only to Alabama. I keep telling people this isnt 2024 when Miami's schedule was cheeks. This years schedule is much better for the resume.
Dropped 1.5 spots after a 30 point cover… there’s no reason to assume a 10-1 UM gets a playoff spot. SEC and B10 teams will keep inching up.

Just gotta keep winning…we gave them the chance to ***** us …..
This is CFB, not the NFL. It's not just about winning (though it is #1), it's how you win. Like I said in another thread, this is a beauty contest. In every single one of our wins (with the exception of USF), we and the media have been forced to say "yeah they won, but...". We are not dominant, though we've had dominant moments; we are not explosive outside of Mali doing some incredible work; and we're just not exciting AT ALL.

There's no reason why we have to choose between winning while being boring and losing, but exciting. How about winning while being exciting? Novel concept to a caveman right!

And for an absolute monster in recruiting, CMC makes it so much more difficult on himself when a prospect looks at the tape and sees an uninspiring, plodding offense. What exactly are you selling? Seriously, if you're a top rb, what about this offense is appealing? How about at Wr?

Yes, we are winning; yes, we've had moments of dominance; and yes, we are a playoff-caliber team. But I want a championship-caliber team that scares the crap out of opponents because we're dominant in every aspect of the game. Right now we're like the girl from Old School who looks really good next to her ugly friends, but when you isolate solely on her...

This long *** rant is brought to you by the one and only @TheOriginalCane Glad to have you back man!

That’s what the ACC does and why idk why anyone was so confident we’d get in ag 11-1 if we miss the champ game. We might finish with 1 ranked win in that scenario. There is an obvious bias there’s no way they are putting 3 ACC teams in.
Impossible to be left out

Probably...but if anybody watched their game neither one of those teams lookedi like ranked teams. Ugly game.
That’s the beautiful part of the AP voters. They don’t watch the games. The look at brand, media narratives, preseason rankings, feel good stories, score, box score (in that order).

We lost to UL and dropped 7 spots.

Ole Miss lost and only dropped 2 spots and we were ranked #2 while Ole Miss was #5.

Yet UL, who wasn’t ranked showed up the following week at #19.

Make it make sense 😂😂
Sure, I'll help you.

We lost at home to unranked Louisville, a program that has won nothing. Ole Miss lost on the road to top 10 Georgia, the best program this decade.

Mizzou is not a top 15 team, it’s the sec circle jerk that allows them to shuffle teams like that. Mizzou’s only claim is they kept it close against bama.
They'd be favored against every team we've played except Notre Dame. Vanderbilt picked up a solid W and we beat a bottom feeder.

This isn't difficult. If we picked up a quality win and didn't move up you'd be crying the same way you are now lol

Miami at 11-1 is an absolute bet your mortgage lock to get in the playoffs.

10-2 Miami has a strong chance.

Depends on some other factors like does ND go 10-2, USF go 10-2, does Lville win at least 9 stay ranked, does Pittsburgh keep winning and get into the top 25. Vandy is going to lose 2 more games. Tennessee resume is bad, they wont get in at 10-2, but I think they drop another one.
They are not necessarily.

If GT and Lville win out and play in the ACC champ game and Gt wins are they taking an 11-1 Miami over Louisville who beat them in Miami?

If not you are asking a lot from the committee to put 3 ACC teams in the playoffs.

I’m not saying this is how the season necessarily shakes out. My point is going 11-1 and getting in is not a sure thing.

like I said. Pay attention to the SEC movement, especially in the bottom half of the top 25. Stuff like 2 loss Tenn moving up 3 spots after beating 2 win UK 56-34. Now they’re back in the top 15. Texas and Oklahoma still somehow in the top 20 as well. Creates a bunch of nonsense top 25 wins for teams in the top 10-15.
This is why if we lose another game there’s likely no chance we get in

Right now for us at least. Style points will matter. We need to dominate the teams we should dominate. Leaving no doubt in anybody’s head. If not then I guess we don’t deserve it once again
That’s exactly what Indiana is doing. Hammering the lower level opponents.”Style Points” here’s hoping Cignetti gets his S**t pushed in. Aggravating Alta ****er.

The point is that every time an SEC team loses to each other, they drop very minimal in the rankings.

Bama lost to FSU. They are ranked higher and have a better playoff chance than we do.

I agree 1000% but I’m afraid the only way this is going to happen is if we change HC…I’m not sure if we hired Bill Walsh to run or offense that it would look any better if Mario is there controlling what and how the offense is going to be run.

We’ve been watching our running game run into the same two gaps for 3-4 years and want to blame the OC even though it’s been different OC philosophies with one constant…..Mario.

As long as we are winning 8-10 games a year he’s going to figure his way works and he’s not going to change even though with the talents he’s bringing in it should be 10-12 games a year.

I’m not sure it would help at all but I wish someone like maybe JJ who Mario might listen too sat him done and explained to him this offense is archaic and times have changed and he has to change to keep up….maybe it would penetrate his seemingly stubborn hard head….but I doubt it.

This rant also in recognition to the return to TOC …..the originator of the 2000+ word rant….great to have him back.

Yes because they have road wins vs Georgia and Missouri, and home wins vs Vandy and Tennessee. Their loss was on the road and ours was at home. Their loss was also early and they've improved a great deal, while we have been playing worse.

They are significantly more deserving at this point.

They jumped us because they beat a top 15 team and we beat a team that lost to Hawaii.
They also lost to a team that lost to a team that lost to that team that lost to Hawaii if we want to keep the transitive rabbit hole going.

No we don't need to resort to such a ridiculous argument, because the simple arguments works well enough: they beat a pretty good team and we didn't.
