Stroud - Outside of the different scheme with Garvin playing the field, I thought the DL played well. He's a good recruiter, Ok resume (was a DC at Akron), and hasn't really missed a beat since Simpson left. I thought Ford looked good and Bethel played at Par to what he did last year.
Hickson - Similar to the above. DeeJay flourished and Cam looked decent, but the scheme fit was garbage for the RBs. He broke the Deerfield curse which hopefully brings in more Deerfield talent down the line. Guy is a Dilliard grad so you would think he has some pull in Broward. Hoping he can continue to recruit at this level among other positions and develop the young talents at RB we got.
BIG DROP
KEEP GOING
Baker - makes your head spin as a coordinator, but the LBs looked good albeit they've been in the program for a while. I want to think he can recruit well, since he brought in Austin-Cave and Flagg from out of state. Wonder what he can pull in going forward and if he can use his Lousiana pull for those LSU leftovers. I want to see how his young LBs play this season. Hopefully he's smart enough to keep the talent on the field (Brooks, Huff)
Banda - let's face it, his recruiting stanks, but I do like what he has done to develop some of the Safeties we've had like Jenkins, Redwine and Carter. I really believe that South Florida DBs are a premium as every major program knows that this area contributes several elite players, so it can be tough to recruit against the big boys/bags with what we've done on the field. HOWEVER there is no excuse to not offer some of these high quality second tier guys last minute that go on to have decent careers and rise in their recruiting profile. Guys like Jordan Battle, Antwan Collier, and the Wisconsin DBs are making plays and I won't ever understand how those guys didn't get early offers and why we didn't bring them along early in case the Stevenson's, Richards and Jobes of the world move on.
Rumph - Similar to Banda in which he's developed the guys we have (Elder, Mike Jackson, Bandy), but he needs to be able to still go after the second tier of players in recruiting. I get that you want the Campbell's, Surtains, Fred Davis's of the state, but we need to still close on talent thats still out there. I'm extremely nervous about the CB room now as it appears we only have 5 scholarship guys for next season. (Blades, Ivey, Couch, Williams, Clarke). Hopefully he can develop them but he's on the hot seat with his lack of recruiting.
Field - not hard when when you have an already polished Brevin on the team to develop, but what the f**K happened to Mallory and Irvin Jr. You gotta get those guys catching balls and blocking better. I'd like them to use Hodges more, as I liked his flash in the Bethune Game, but I think Lashlee's system is a better fit for him. Also, he was brought in as this Ace recruiter and he really hasn't shown anything, but at 6-7, its tough to land out of state guys. Still, he needs to be able to get on the Northwestern and Palmetto guys for this coming class to show his value as a recruiter. He was a head coach at Northwestern, so let's see if he can still pull on those relationships. If not, bring me Telly Lockette or Roland Smith for this position.
Stubbs - I thought he was going to make the small guys like Harley, Pope and Thomas safety valves for the QBs with his playing history, but that didn't happen. He got a nice recruiting haul, no doubt, but it appears that he will get smoked from what the recruiting guys are saying in this next cycle. Also, he can't seem to control the WR room per what BrooklynDee referred to. I just feel like he's a young guy, trying to be the "cool" coach and really needs to get the egos in the WR room in check. Similar to Brevin, Osborn was already polished so let's see what he can do without an alpha like that.
Patke - Honestly, WTF. Romeo looked good all year, but again, already polished. Frierson struggled and don't get me started on the kicking game. I like that he got a pickup from Jalen Harrell at striker, but there's a ton of improvement he needs to do on the recruiting front.
Did not include Diaz, as he needs to focus on being a CEO, and Lashlee and Justice are TBD
