The D-line may have a little more penetration, but we need some sacks. Until we are able to create pressure with just the front 4 we will just be a average defense. If we give Cincinnati time to throw we will have a hard time out scoring them.

I think our dline will smash cincy. The QB from nebraska was prob the best runner (<fsu) miami will see all year. If a QB cant scramble I think the D will molest most o-lines. but then again i did hear alot of nebraska fans talk about how there oline sucks. so maybe the d pressure is all based on ****ty o-line play.

Watson is a better runner than Golson and Armstrong

No the f_ck he's not lol, Armstrong by far is the best runner out of those 3 and the most mobile. He had 700 + rushing yards last year.... While Watson only had 200

Big upgrade in talent from last year.
Jenkins, Moten, C Thomas, Harris are no longer true frosh and are playing a lot more, we added back in AQM and Norton pushed out Wyche.

trent harris is not an issue. Kamulu is doing nothing.

Havent heard the guy's name all year. Kamalu is one of those "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" guys. Cmon.

we certainly would not want a shoot-out, so maybe this would be one of those times the offense can control time of possession, avoid 3 and outs, and help the defense. Seeing how we will be shorthanded in the secondary for a half, we may want to take the air out of the ball a little and maybe run the clock to just a few seconds during each snap instead of leaving 10-15 seconds each snap like the Nebraska game.

Watson barely played last year. He started 4 games. He has 300 rushing yards in 7 starts. Armstrong has 1,000 rushing yards in 21 starts. Armstrong also has 55 yards on 22 carries this year. But yeah, Armstrong is by far the better runner.

You just said he started 4 games, and he has 300 rushing yards in 7 starts? Which one is it? Mike Riley has tweaked their offense where Armstrong passes the ball a lot more and not run as much.

You guys also know that the DL coach doesn't decide whether the DL will 2 gap or not right? DL coach isn't responsible for scheme or philosophy decisions.

Watson is faster and more dangerous. He's not running as much because he's fragile and they don't want to lose him.

Broke logic: Mike James is a better RB than Joe Yearby because he had more yards.

He started 4 games last year....WHICH IS WHAT I SAID, 3 this year, genius. Reading is fundamental.

Which one is it? You're as dumb as they come. Let me help you understand what the previous poster correctly pointed out.

Broke: Armstrong is better because he had more yards last year.

NotSince: No brocky, you see, stats are a bit more nuanced than that. Watson was hurt last year and only started 4 games. But overall, in his 7 career starts (look here broke, 4 last year plus 3 this year equals 7) he has 300 yards.

I feel like I'm talking to a 2nd grader. Watson is also a far better pocket passer with better receivers, meaning there is less of a reason for him to run the ball.

Oh, well regardless both are very good runners for qbs

The difference is having AQM and Kendrick Norton.

Melvin is a non factor.

They certainly are a factor I'll throw in Chad Thomas in there because he has been in the backfield a lot as well. Melvin seems to be a great hire he is getting a lot out of courtel Jenkins and Calvin huertelu

I only negged you because I saw this butt wipe tntnomad give you a thumbs up.

Hope he has a plan to take the air out of the ball for at least the 1st half against Cinncy with Gayot and two safety's out...Looking for a track meet and they could get out fast leaving us without time to catch up.

In the nebraska game we had a pass rush, but couldn't finish the play. Scramble QB's seem to always have their way with our defense. I think overall the DL has played better than last year.

Your analysis is right but Alfredo just won't shut up about those 427 "missed" sacks.

Biggest case for coach melvins effect on the d-line was Calvin herty reading that screen play and making a tackle for loss. same thing happened in the nebraska game. while grace made the big hit, you could see the dline read the screen like a book. something NEVER done under jethro... more rip moves as well

Melvin has been a welcome addition. The problem is still the linebackers and db's are just too far off the ball. why are our linebackers 7-10 yards from the los all the **** time?

LOL at the new breed UM fan. This dude is scared of Cincinnati. Wants to take the air out of the ball. Holy **** Folden has fcked this program.

UC backup QB almost threw for 600 yards last night...
With that said, the UC defense almost gave up 500 to Memphis.
We should win with our talent alone.
