Random observations

Going to rattle off the negatives because I didn’t have many to mention after the whooping of gators:

RayRay’s snaps need to be dramatically less. He is not fluid and looks stiff as ****. I don’t see it

Our entire WR core outside of X is mid. No contested catch ability and don’t see separation. Get the freshman burn because we may need to go portal heavy there next season.

Clark #5 has looked poor from what I have seen. This dude was a very solid player at nc state? We’re going to need him in a game or two when we get nicked up. He needs to step up.

ST as a whole looks poor. Get ray ray off of PR. I thought brashard lacked fluidity but ray ray takes that to another level.

I’m not at the game and haven’t seen the all 22 but Martinez ran like a blind mouse last night. Our run game is suspect through 2 games but #6 did the team no favors last night.

Barrow is our best DT by a wide margin so far. The rest of interior d line looks mid.

The effort I have seen from Richards defensively and brown offensively is just really bad. It’s time to give those snaps to other guys until they get their heads out of their asses

No ajay allen? no Stafford? Both guys being MIA has surprised me.

1st half last night was concerning but they responded 2nd half

They need to learn how to lock in and get dialed in for every game, not take weeks off. All week long they were saying things like "every game is a championship game" but that's obviously not true. They need to make it true.

It's a long season and we should be favored to win every game. The only way we don't do that is if some team upsets us, and the only way that happens is if we come in one week not dialed in and not focused.

Our biggest opponent here on in is complacency and we need to figure it out before some team sneaks up on us.
You are fighting basic human nature here. Anyone who ever played sports knows when you are playing a chump. Your coach can preach one game at a time, its the game not the name or any other cute saying but deep down inside you are playing a chumo and your brain knows it.

While you’re correct about the ideal mindset, there’s never been a team that’s been dialed in every single week. The 2001/2 Canes and every great team since have had games where they didn’t show up. So to have stomped A&M while being less than perfect is understandable. And would have a 77-0 beating have really meant anything? I don’t think so. We’ve seen that followed by losses to the GT’s of the world.

I look for perfection in games like this, but the truth is that we dominated as we should. This game doesn’t tell us anything about how this team will respond when pushed later in the year. Enjoy the win and move on
Everyone loves to watch that Ed reed touchdown against BC, but why were we even in that situation. Greatest team of all time and we were in a dog fight with them. It’s a bunch of 18-22 yo (sorry cam McCormick), it happens

I am 100% positive that you and I don’t have any common ground to discuss

Have a blessed Sunday

Martinez averaged 9 yds per carry

Ajay Allen played in the 4th

Yes he did. But that number probably would have been 16. Yes I know he played in the 4th but J Lyle being the sure fire #3 is crazy to me. That’s 2 games in a row we don’t see Allen until mop up duty

We literally just ran one run play the whole game, idk what people are complaining about.

Cole looked great at times and not so much at others, he’s a true freshman.

Watch the Florida game vs this one and anyone with a brain will see how vanilla we played it.

We played loads of backups and freshman from the jump and they got valuable reps.

Sam Brown has been a disappointment up until this far. George has also been on a milk carton. Horton looks like the best outside WR we have.

Tight Ends!

Secondary was down some guys but outside one drive were solid.

Our LBers look amazing and Hayes really popped. Pruitt is gonna be legit once he beefs up.

On to the next one.

I just want to remind you guys, that while I agree I would like to see a cleaner game from us, refs still suck ***. I know that's cliche but a lot of these dudes have a complex and need to assert their control at all times. There were quite a few games this weekend where there were over 20+ penalties in a game.

We just have to play well enough so that even multiple BS calls don't cost us a game.
The roughing passer on Horton seemed to be ticky tack.

Not a ton you can take from a game like this outside of some generic observations.

We’re not nearly as deep on the offensive line as the coaches wanted us to believe

We’re way deeper on the defensive line than any of us believed.

A lot of 2nd and 3rd year guys are getting passed by first year guys and we’re likely going to see some significant turnover at the skill positions after this year.

Otherwise it was good to see so many guys get playing time even if some were underwhelming
I'm not sure I agree with your OL comment for a couple reasons.

It takes awhile for the line to gel. LT/LG/C had never played together before.

Comments that we go 8 deep are more applicable to plugging # 6,7 or 8 in to replace a guy than bringing 2 or 3 in at once. Or in the extreme, having a whole secong line in. Would have liked to see McCoy play with Rivers to really see where we are at LG.

Some of my initial observations

1. Run game needs more variety. I know our identity for running the ball is steeped in power run, but that doesn’t mean we can’t run more zone runs with a couple counters and hb toss mixed in.

2. Offensive line depth is concerning. Such a drop off when starters came out. If someone gets hurt, there will be drop off, even with the cross training they do. We’ve seen an injury on dline and we kept cooking.

3. Does Robbie Washington have any path to getting on the field, even if by position change?

4. People reading too much into Poff playing over Emory. Poff needed game action to show something. With Nickel coming next year, not sure if Poff could be one and done with us. He might do a 2nd transfer for starter playing time. He def can play at lower P4/G5 range, but opportunities going to be few and far.
Agreed.

1. Statistically speaking, the rushing attack is fine. However, it lacks variety as you said. Too many IZ plays that get stopped for little game. We saw a bit more variety at Florida, but not enough to keep teams guessing. It’s something that has plagued Dawson since his arrival.

2. Bell was mediocre against FAMU. He will struggle against more talented fronts and is not ready to assume a starting role. If he’s our best option for a third tackle, then the depth at OL is not close to what we expected. The second team was hit and miss. Samson was okay. Kinsler needs work at tackle and probably needs to play inside. Tinilau got pushed around by a smaller player (needs strength).

I really missed Jalen Rivers yesterday and I know Cam did. He should not have had to run for his life so often against an FCS opponent

First five plays of the game
Defense - Incompletion, 1-yd gain, interception
Offense - 11-yd run, 17-yd pass for TD

Second set of series
Defense - 1 first down before punting
Offense - 99 yard TD drive

You guys are a tough crowd to be talking about not coming in focused. They did exactly what I wanted to see which was to dominate early and then experiment with a lot of young players.

At worst, I would accept that they might have lost focus after a very good start but I would blame that more on the rotation than focus. The 2nd and 3rd teams are never going to be as good as the 1st.

At the end of the day, we posted a score that shows dominance and we still have plenty of talking points to take back to the film room while getting very valuable experience for depth. Meanwhile, it does not seem like there were any injuries. It was everything you want these kinds of games to be.
You should be banned for excessive rationality

We did what we needed to do:
- Scored on first 3 drives of 1st half AND 2nd half
- Got a ton of burn for younger guys, first catches by Trader & Carr, first TD by Lyle
- 5 sacks, 3 interceptions & 10 TFLs...we should do this against FAMU but we haven't done that in many years
- Baron is a beast and will only be better when Bain gets back
- No injuries that I recall

Was it perfect? **** no, but compared to what we've seen these last 20 years, this was still a solid performance. Mario lit a fire at half and the 2nd half we dominated.

Lot of things to improve on and get to where we want to be, but all in all, I'll take this performance over the crap we've watched for 20 years
Too many simple mistakes in the first half but I love that coaches lit a fire 🔥 under the added in the 2nd half.

Re: Pancake, I was quoting our guys with the 1st overall pick stuff. He will be a good player but it's hard to assess teenagers when they don't play top talent. Francis Mauigoa was a much easier eval for the staff.
I don’t think he’s staying here judging by Bell getting the start and him being with the backups.

Maybe if Mauigoa agrees to move to RG next year but either way he’s going to get a ton of pressure again from other staffs to dipset from Miami
