Random observations

We did what we needed to do:
- Scored on first 3 drives of 1st half AND 2nd half
- Got a ton of burn for younger guys, first catches by Trader & Carr, first TD by Lyle
- 5 sacks, 3 interceptions & 10 TFLs...we should do this against FAMU but we haven't done that in many years
- Baron is a beast and will only be better when Bain gets back
- No injuries that I recall

Was it perfect? **** no, but compared to what we've seen these last 20 years, this was still a solid performance. Mario lit a fire at half and the 2nd half we dominated.

Lot of things to improve on and get to where we want to be, but all in all, I'll take this performance over the crap we've watched for 20 years

Run blocking is not as good as it needs to be. Our WRs played bad today. Like many have said, Brown is not as advertised. That's two games in a row he looks just average or below average. Our run defense especially up the middle wasn't that great. Our secondary looks thin.

Overall not very impressed by the day. We looked much better against Florida.

The team did not look like they were locked in and focused and I don't think they had a great week of prep. I think they were feeling themselves too much after the Florida win and showed up today without focus.
You just must be a delight at parties.

- Thank god we got Cam. The alternative is scary. Amazing what one player does. I hope we take the collective pool and overpay for a big time QB. Use 20%.
- this could be Mario Cristobal’s best team ever. Better than 2019 Oregon that won the Rose Bowl w/herbert.
- Cam Ward and the 1st team oline can keep us in any game
- a ton of the young players flashed big time
- we need to develop some of the younger receivers. X is great, JG and Horton are serviceable but we need some serious contested catch guys and some YAC guys.
- Sam Brown is incapable of winning a contested catch. Incapable.
- Armando Blount needs more time. Hands down the most impressive freshmen linemen today. Cole was a big disappointment after reading all the practice reports.
- shout out to Aaron Feld for creating a Ted Hendricks clone in Chase Smith. I’m sure he needs work but he looks the part.
- I’m not sure what is going on with Pancake. But I remember when he was being recruited DMoney was saying 1st overall pick type talent. Same thing we heard about Dylan Stewart. Dylan looks the part. But we’re 8 deep at oline which is nice.
- what’s going on with the Washington brothers?
Cole was disruptive, not sure what you saw...

I just cant take anyone seriously complaining about anything today beyond the 2nd and 3rd teamers in the 2nd quarter as that was a bit off. The run game was **** good . This is a game any Miami team of the last 15 years would of won 38-13 . We won by almost 50. Yall seriously have issues if you complaining about anything today beyond Brown at WR and the back ups in the 2nd quarter. those were 2 issues. Miami clearly is a top 5 team along with the likes of UGA , OSU , Texas ... The people who *****ing about the run game though I can't even respond to its so silly. I mean you have to be hittin the fenny foil if you look at these stats and see anything other then the top backfield in college . We have a 4th stringer who would start for 99.9% of teams in Allen. 8.3 , 8.4 6.7 and 5.0 is what our top 4 averaged when they touched the ball.

maybe im wrong but he just doesnt seem have it. CJ who I have been hard on show me something.
Maybe he puts it together this year do that staff trusts him to be the full time slot WR. I remember it took JG & now Horton 2 or 3 years to put it all together

When you look at the schedule the only team that can beat this squad is themselves. The thing I like is that they did come out in the second half and outscore FAM 31-3 so that’s a positive. The thing that keeps me up at night and worries me is this team coming out unfocused and unmotivated and next thing you know lose to a team you shouldn’t. You saw it again today: Notre Dame loses to N.Illinois, Oregon almost lost to Boise St. It’s not like the old days where you can out-talent 3/4 of your schedule and win by 40-50 points. If you don’t bring it every week you can, and will, lose. That being said we’ll take this blowout and move on to week 3 but focus, focus, focus should be what Mario is pounding into their heads 24/7.

We WON. We weren’t good enough last night for complacency to set it.

Lots of coaching opportunities for the staff. I expect next week to be cleaner and crisper as we work toward our ACC schedule.

We are finally trending in the RIGHT direction.

Enjoy the process💪🙌

100%

This is a game where in recent history we would win 37-17. We had some penalty issues and didn't really push the run game as much as I thought we would but all in all it was a dominant performance.

Those complaining about the OL not getting push did you see the stats?

Damian had 11 touches for 91 yards at an 8.3 yard average. 33 long
Fletcher had 5 carries for 42 yards at an 8.4 yard average, 23 long
Lyle had 6 carries for 40 yards for a 6.7 yard average. 13 long

All 3 had TD's. Hardly a struggle.

Not a ton you can take from a game like this outside of some generic observations.

We’re not nearly as deep on the offensive line as the coaches wanted us to believe

We’re way deeper on the defensive line than any of us believed.

A lot of 2nd and 3rd year guys are getting passed by first year guys and we’re likely going to see some significant turnover at the skill positions after this year.

Otherwise it was good to see so many guys get playing time even if some were underwhelming
