It doesn't have to be a football related injury. However, apparently in order to get a sixth year, the player has to have been out 2 of the 5 years due to circumstances beyond their control. That 2007 redshirt doesn't meet that requirement. That's why they were trying to scrape up documentation for an injury.

Ojomo got bent over, and it sucks because he would've been very productive with another year to get bigger. Cookie was definitely playing better, and should be very important for the D

I was under that impression as well, he should meet the requirments for a medical redshirt though so I'm not too worried.

Fwiw you have to miss two years due to injury to get a med shirt. Plenty, many, most, or some of the time schools try and getmed shirts for kids they shirt that way if they do get hurt they now have some recourse to get that sixth year.

Sorry what o mean is true frosh get med shirts so that if something happens later they can get a med hardship and sixth year.

Jorge Milian interviewed Golden today and Golden says he doesn't expect ramon to be ready for the spring.

This doesn't confirm that he's been awarded a hardship waiver, but its a step in the right direction. We really need him imo.
