I just went to a soul food restaurant in Plant City and saw everybody mixin' it up.

I've been all over the state, and ironically the most racist parts of Florida are the transient cities that are full of Northerners. LOL

I can only speak from my experiences being white and being friends with white and black people in the north and south

I see way more white and black people hanging out together here in the south. The north was a lot of “when so and so leaves the room” hushed racist comments type of stuff

Felt more vindictive to me

But anyway it’s just another unfortunate example of the few making the many look bad

They certainly harbor, and engage in business dealings with, racists like Mark Taylor.

You'll have a more definitive the answer to your question based on their handling of this information. Obviously, the institutions will no longer associate with this man. However, a more public and direct statement condemning this individual is warranted by Dabo, Saban, Kirby, Mike and any coach associated with this man.

I know what you mean. I was down in New Orleans for a month for work and it’s drastically different than Massachusetts in terms of race and cultures mixing.

However I’ve been to deep Georgia and Alabama and heard some of the most racists **** in the world.

Up north we definitely have our neighborhoods and for the most part keep to ourselves. Definitely not to the extreme like how it was back in the day which is a good thing.

From my experience, the people here aren’t racist as much as they are judgmental. It’s the Kennedy democrats/not in my back yard type thing. I know growing up, you were expected to behave a certain way and have certain hobbies. I guess it’s conform to our way of life and we will welcome anyone in, but people aren’t as open minded to other cultures. Definitely less friendly and more ignorant I would say, but I wouldnt categorize it as racist. That has drastically changed though in the past 10 years as people for the large part are more open minded here...definitely still not friendly and not welcoming though. And I when I say that I mean it’s to anyone who didn’t grow up in the same neighborhood as them regardless of their race. Maybe it was subtle racism who knows, but the athletes and those with common hobbies regardless of color stuck together. I guess once you were in you were in, but I could see how an African American could have more trouble getting in up here. Latinos “assimilate” very easily up here.

He made the videos on his phone, probably trying to be funny for some of his scummy ***, racist friends, back home. That "room service" call where he's asking for some "chicken wings and two hoes" is definitely a fake call. It looks like he's trying to be some kind of racist comedian. It probably was only meant to be seen by a few of his POS peers. Unbeknownst to him though, his apple products are synched, and unless you "un sync" em.... well its gonna be on all devices. Well his wife, who was at home AND who he is in the process of divorcing, seen the "new video uploaded" message on the Ipad. She opens it up, sees the videos, and decides to posts them online..... to show the world his true colors..... and to fucc him....... just one more time, :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. Love it.

There are probably 50M+ people like this guy in America, don't kid yourselves. Whether it's a guy saying this **** into his phone, or a subtle white power hand signal in a photo, or what people say to each other when they are among like-minded folks, this is a nation of inequality.

This guy was just stupid and cavalier enough to record himself without his white hood on.

Humanity is broken. We are too consumed with focusing on what's different about each other than what we all have in common.

That said, I hope this **** burns.

They are, but it's like Dade and Broward in relation to the state of Florida; there're pockets of racism shrouded in conservativism.

Staten Island and Long Island are perfect examples of enclaves that harbor very racists beliefs in NYCs & outer boroughs.

It's more about where you go in a given place.

Furthermore…

People from the south are just generally speaking, kinder, more accepting people. Vast majority would give a stranger in need the shirt off their back. In the north? They wouldn’t **** on you if you were on fire (that’s if they even noticed).
 
I don’t know which parts of the South y’all live in where there is so much integration, but when I visit my folks in Tennessee and Mississippi, there is zero interaction with white people. It’s almost surreal because I’m used to a more diverse environment. These are very small towns, so they probably haven’t caught up to the rest of the region.

I was just gonna say this. As I've lived in Florida over 90% of my life, that's what I can speak to.

I've seen very little overt racism in my life. I've heard more than seen, but it's still not too much.

In my experience, there is more of a fear/discomfort element with racism among Yankees, and they also tend to keep it quieter/politer, and behind closed doors. Southerners don't self-censor as much, and also tend to be less apprehensive (perhaps this is also due to way higher gun ownership, too).

I think genuine racists are an increasingly small cohort these days.

Agreed to the bold.

Anyway, the video comes across as caricature, and giving it too much attention serves more harm than good. It's best just to dissociate from these individuals, if possible.

yea...they notice, but they're desensitized.

In the North East there's such a premium on space that people are always trying to be in their own worlds. You could live next to someone and never know them because (speaking for NYers) you fight for space on the subways, in apartments, on the streets with parking and everywhere you go; the fight is really a part of everything you do when living in a big city like NY.

Pan-handlers or hustlers are always trying to get a buck and eventually you just develop this shield of insensitivity (earbuds, shades and everyone on ignore).

I think it has to do the with space. When you have it you're trying to connect with others, but when you don't you're not.

In West Palm Beach and Plantation, there's always been a lot of interaction for me.

In Miami, there was ZERO integration from a social perspective.

Melbourne and Palm Bay somewhere in between.

No different than being drafted by an NFL team. Unfortunate that the world still has these type of people in it, but the truth is that it's always been there. What's worse is this man wasn't born that way....he was taught to think that way. Hopefully one day people will teach their kids that people are people, regardless of skin color, a bad person who hurts others is simply a bad person, regardless of their skin color.

Primary reason why I've been entertaining moving my family out the South (NC) and heading out west to the Phoenix area. Can't get completely away from it regardless of where you go but it's definitely not like it is in the South. This is what I've been told from friends/family that have lived in both areas (South and out West). Any guys that live out West can chime in
