Quick update on Punt Returner for those wondering

Lol at Dallas having more wiggle than Thomas??

Both Dallas and Harley have more wiggle for sure.

Thomas just isn't that shifty. He's basically Dorsett speed wise, but he does have more wiggle than Dorsett.

People forget that Harley is dangerous as **** when he's got the ball in his hands and can make most people miss.

Dallas is a tough runner who has deceptive speed as he knows where he's going several steps ahead of where he is. He processes what's going on around him very well.

It'll all come down to ball security. Should that all be about the same, I want Harley on kick returns and Dallas on punt returns.

Yep.

Miami has often had its best players as returners.

Andre Johnson returned kicks, at times Reed returned punts, Buchanon on punts, Moss on punts, K Williams on punts, Lamar Miller, Travis Benjamin, etc.

You put the best players on the field if you want to win.

Todd Gurley returned kicks as the starting RB.

Stopped reading after the 1st sentence

DJ Dallas is the easy choice for me. KR, PR, WR, RB, QB He should touch the ball 15 times per game minimum.

The key to returning is fearlessness, you see a wedge or hole and being able to hit it as hard as you possibly can. With no regard for your body.

Guys that come to mind are Vai Sikahema, Tim Dwight, Hester, Danta Hall. Those guys hit it so hard and at top end. They saw holes before they opened then exploded through.

I didn’t see that in Berrios or Thomas. I saw a lot of waiting and tippy toeing. Rarely making the hole.

Nothing against BB, he was solid.

No the key is blocking

I agree. Something about Deejay gives me a Hester vibe. The fact that the coaches keep repositioning him like Hester was.
This. Deejay has a lightning quick cut up the field when he plants on a dime and accelerates. Reminds me a lot of Devin Hester and I think Deejay needs to win this job and we need to give him as many touches as possible.

^^^^ KR was pretty weak last year, and on the very few times we got a decent return the overwhelming amount of time we had some kind of penalty.

I'm somewhat apprehensive having Jeff Thomas as a PR, not that I don't think he can handle the duties and bring some explosiveness but should he get injured that could handcuff the speed we have at WR

And I thought you were going to bring up his stellar exhibition of skill on kick off returns last season when I read "I'm somewhat apprehensive having Jeff Thomas as a PR"

There was a reason Berrios and others would fair catch so many punts and it had nothing to do with being scared.

With two or three men usually in your face waiting to hit you as soon as you catch it because of our poor blocking there was little time and room to turn it up or get physical. ALL of our PR candidates have all the skills to be outstanding.

So I don't blame them as much as I do the blocking
It’s a combination of both posts and reasons. Berries wasn’t scared but I truly believe that JT was and with good reason: no blocking and weighing 160+ last season. His first 3 steps after catching kicks showed his fear and apprehension. Deejay ain’t scared, justifiably or not

HTCane, that's the great thing about barbershops and boards, two grown men can see the exact same picture and yet both may see it completely different.

I just simply disagree with the JT being scared part of your statement and its for the very reason you may think he was. Anyone playing CFB at a Power5 school, playing ST only weighing 160+a bag of air against much larger players definitely ain't scared.

Reminds me of the arguments we used to have about Ali and Frazier's courage. IMO its impossible to gauge what's in a man's heart based on his style. Both had indomitable courage and neither ever quit. An athlete has to know which style works best for him. So between us, I guess it depends on whose style you liked the best. A man's courage isn't determined on which style he choses to achieve his objectives. I just try to focus more on the results of his choice.

HTC Let's just agree that we just disagree on which style we prefer ( Frankly, either one works for me) and agree that with better blocking both would be more effective. Good talk
