Dalvin Cook

  • Cook is being told he'll be no worse than the #2 back behind Matt Jones as a true freshman
  • That and Florida's pro-style offense has Cook on board
  • Cook continues to communicate with staffs from Miami, Alabama, and Clemson, but remains firm in his Florida commitment

-------------

Johnnie Dixon

  • Florida remains in contention for Dixon, but Dixon's recruitment appears to be a battle between Alabama and Miami

-------------

Travis Rudolph

  • Florida remains the team to beat for Rudolph
  • Rudolph plans on taking all his OVs before announcing in January

-------------

Da'Vante Phillips

  • Phillips lost his mom who passed away late last year
  • Phillips wants to get out of Miami for college and feels like Gainesville is a more stable environment
  • That was the biggest reason he committed early to Florida

*all info should be TFWIW

He wanted out of Miami so bad that he almost commited in June.

Right.

I was told that the kid NEEDS to get out of Miami based on who he hangs around. Problem with that line of thinking, more often than not, kids like that usually find trouble wherever they go. And lets not pretend UF hasn't been a cesspool when it comes to kids getting into trouble.

Phillips has some stuff behind the scenes and some people close to him believe it would be in his best interests to get out of Miami

I'm not a WR mark but I wouldn't like Dixon going to bammer seeing how well Cooper did.

This, a lot of people have told me there was a point in time where it wasn't very safe for Phillips here in Miami

*On Dalvin Cook - I'm sure Kelvin Taylor would be real interested to learn that Cook has already passed him on next year's depth chart.

* On Johnnie Dixon - I actually know somebody who is pretty close to him (won't describe this person's relationship to Dixon in case JD reads this board) and the Bama threat is legit. Says Bama is coming after him hard and that Johnnie is eating up the attention. This guy sees him on a pretty regular basis and says that JD has been wearing Bama gear more and more. However, this guy still believes Dixon winds up with us in the end due to the fact that his mom likes the Canes and that Johnnie is a big "momma's boy".

*On Travis Rudolph - My favorite WR recruit this cycle. Might not be blazing fast but is said to be very polished in all the areas that make a wr great (route running, pass catching, body control, ect). Travis' Cane fan daddy needs to help bring this one home for us.

* On Da'Vante Phillips - Won't really worry about this kid until next year.

Regarding Cook, if he's smart and has followed UF he'd know that he's going to be behind Kelvin Taylor especially if Fred comes knocking on Muschamps door. Dixon I think still ends up at UM but Bama is always scary, the great thing is UM has been on him since day one so mom is sold and ixon to me is sold to and in the end that will work for us. Rudolph has always liked UF but they still suck in the passing game so the dad will work that everycay and hopefully Rudolph sees that and will consider UM. Phillips if he feels danger down here then he should go............. just not to UF

You all think he's the first kid from MDC to come from a surrounding with bad influences? One can make the arguement that it's actually better for him to stay in Miami because of it.

Sounds very gang related issue here....

Gang related or not, if that is the case then do we really want him around our team? It might be best for both parties if he gets out of Miami.

I'm curious....please make that argument.

The Gators are going to say anything to keep DCook. **** they will tell him he can possibly supplant Matt Jones if he works hard! They know his recruitment isnt over. They know Al is comin for them and that Roland Smith will be in his ear all year along with his brother, his teammates, and the community.

As far as DPhillips, Didnt we hear the same stuff about Aldarius Johnson and his supposed "street issues" and why he needed to go far far away? Turns out HE was his own worst enemy. Listen I get it. These kids hang around bad influences and need to get away. But lets not act like DPhillips is committed to USC or UCLA. Gainesville is a car ride away. Clinton Portis said the first time he went to South Beach was when he got drafted. Otherwise he stayed on campus and in the football facitily. Trouble cant find you if you are doing what you are supposed to do. These kids always make excuses why NOT to go to UM. And it sickens me..But like another poster said, I highly doubt this sticks.

Dixon to ALA would REALLY REALLY mess things up for us. Its not looking good for Lane or Rudolph. We need to hang on to him. (Can you believe that there are many scenarios where FLA or ALA could end up with 2 of the 3 aforementioned and we end up with none?? Dammit man.)
