Question re: Chaney and Knighton

I've been reading the last couple pages. I can't say who's better but I expect Knighton to be ahead of Cheney until he makes that adjustment from the wing -T. Once that happens then you can go with the hot hand. Hickson and Manny did a great job in landing those 2.

No bias. But unless we switch to a spread offence and create some easy running lanes neither kid will shine like they should. The OLine is terrible.
When you have a special talent at rb they can overcome that, dalvin cook did it for years at FSU yet still put up elite stats . Knighton/Chaney have the ability to get yards and pop big runs that a back like deejay Dallas or even cam Harris can’t consistently. Even with how our offensive line is our lead back has still averaged over 6 yards per carry in each of the last 3 years which is **** good. That’s the importance of landing gifted backs as they can turn something out of nothing whereas others can’t do it as frequently.

I'll bite in hopes that you'll stop using this comparison.

First off yards-per-carry means jack **** in college football when you play a bunch of cupcake schools and pad your stats. So I'm not buying the DJ and Cam stuff.

Dalvin Cook's first year at FSU he had four offensive linemen – Cameron Erving, Tre Jackson, Bobby Hart, Josue Matias – who combined for 164 starts. Erving, Jackson, Hart all were taken in the draft. So he has played behind a solid line.

I'll admit, his line wasn't as talented the following 2 years. But, Jimbo Fisher is a much better play-caller than Dan Enos. Jimbo schemes were designed to create opportunities for his best players.

And even if it was just Dalvin being better than everyone else. You can't put these guys on Dalvins level, yet. He was the best back to come out of Florida in years. He's Elite in the NFL. Cam Akers was the number one running back in the nation when he signed with FSU. With a bad line and bad coaching, he did jack sh*t.

These kids will need support. If its not a good oline its a good oc. As of now, they'll have neither.

Everyone knows dalvin is legit and no one said he wasn’t but that still doesn’t change the fact that These 2 are the most talented backs to come out of south Florida since Dalvin imo and it isn’t close whatsoever.

yards per carry absolutely means something, if it’s low then it’s not good period especially in regards to a running back. 6.0 ypc is very respectable. At the end of the day You play who you play who cares, Clemson plays the same competition and no one bats an eye or try to Delegitimize what Travis etienne does week in and week out playing the same competition.

and furthermore I dont Expect enos to be around much longer either way so that don’t mean much to me.

Despite whatever his ranking was akers wasn’t as gifted as Chaney and knighton are at rb IMO coming out of highschool. They are more advanced coming in to college because remember akers was just a qb in highschool and didn’t play rb so he had to make a transition.Never been high on akers to begin with and he’s had an extremely average college career. Akers was overhyped as a recruit let’s face it

It's very hard to determine who's going to be better.... let's wait til they prove it in college this time...I remember taking some heat for choosing Cam over Lo as a more college ready RB ....this one is much closer imo...both have already displayed everything on film that you want in a college rb...

As recruits coming out of HS, I'd rank them - Lingard, Chaney, Knighton, Cam.

I prefer Lingard & Chaney because of their size, and they better fit the mold of a 3 down RB's IMO.

In terms of talent compared to other South Florida RB's - I don't think any are sure things like Dalvin Cook, Sony Michel, or Duke Johnson.

But better than other highly rated guys we've had like Yearby & Walton. I'd put them more in the middle - similar talent wise to an Alex Collins.

It wasn't Hixson to be honest, it was mama Knighton. (+ Restrepo)

Just being real. She wasn't letting her boy leave the state.

From Ivins:
It's silly season, so you know there's a bunch of rumors out there. One of them is that Jaylan Knighton won't sign Wednesday. I just texted his dad and he said that Jaylan will indeed sign with the Hurricnaes on Wednesday. FSU tried to make it interesting.
Thank you, you are appreciated.

The things I’ve seen Chaney do live behind an offensive line the collective weight of Navaughn Donaldson would shock y’all. Most of his tape is the long runs and crazy spin cycles but the impressive stuff to me was the 5-8 yard runs after contact that didn’t make the tape.

Nablob Donaldson that's a lot of weight.

So, has Knighton signed? Sorry if someone already touched on this as I haven’t read through the whole thread. Restrepo signed and has been announced, where’s his boy?

Liberty, does it really matter how great these backs are when you run a pro style offense behind an OLine that gets its shytte beat in week in and week out?

Frankly, Im tired of folks hyping skill players and recruits when football games are won on the line of scrimmage. And we haven't won the LOS in 15 years

OL was better at run blocking, minus short yardage situations. Our real issue is Enos lack of commitment to the run game.
