The two penalties that he had, did anyone think either were acceptable (not penalties)?

Gotta be smarter near the sidelines but the call on the QB throw was absolutely horrendous and Miami wouldn't have gotten that flag the other way around.

He didn’t have to hit the qb on the sideline but that guy didn’t even have one foot out of bounds. That first play was a horrible call too

The first one in this picture is legit roughing. He could have pulled up on the sidelines. The 2nd one is BS. That was a legal hit and is just showing the pussification of the refs. Pretty soon they'll all be playing patty cake with each other or get flagged.

I echo generic. On the sideline play I was ****ed because you have to have better judgment because the refs nearly always call that ****. Someone should be reprimanded/suspended for the bogus roughing the passer call.

He was delivering some shots yesterday I’ll give him that lol, seriously though I and I’m sure many other cane fans have been down on mccloud this year. Hope he breaks out of it. We know he has the ability it just hasn’t been evident this year. I’m very pleased with the backup linebacker play though especially darrion Owens and Charles Perry for the most part

The first one (above): I think he hits him as his foot goes out of bounds. McCloud definitely left his feet before the QB touched the ground (out of bounds).

The second one: I thought was clean.

A year or two from now I think we look back on this and chalk it up to his progression. He's a beast and obviously talented. Just seems to be thinking too much and playing frustrated.

Demolishing a guy when he's a quarterback and tracking out of bounds is going to get a flag every single time whether or not it's clean. ESPECIALLY if you hit him into his own sideline. Can't do it.

Right.

Whether that's truly a "late" hit is irrelevant. It's been a penalty for decades. You also have to be aware of the situation.

Here's the thing though, we can disagree with it, but the first one is called pretty consistently throughout football. Teams may **** and moan about it, but more often than not it's called. The second one like I said, a ref should be reprimanded or either suspended. That was bull.

The hit on Surrat wasn't a penalty.

McClown is an absolute idiot, however, for unloading on 11 on that play in that situation, especially given the ACC officials' pre-existing, long-standing bias toward UNC. That's basically a turnover. He did that earlier in the season too I think.

Even the announcers (or one of them anyway) said that the 2nd one was clean. It seems like the ref decided to throw the flag when he saw the QB was hurt as opposed to whether the hit was clean or not.

He dropped the flag late too. He only dropped the flag because he saw that Surrat was hurt. That clown should be suspended.

Kids a mess right now. He is terrible in coverage and is always in the wrong gap. Perry is better

Penalty on sideline was legit. Penalty on QB throwing was bs. I was shocked Pinkney’s sideline hit on QB 11 when he was trying to make catch wasn’t flagged. Don’t think it should have been but surprised refs in chapel hill didn’t stick it to us anyways.

The hit that knocked the qb out was absolutely clean. It was a vey late flag. I don't think the flag would have been thrown if the qb got up quickly.

The hit late in game is going to get called 90% of the time. Gotta pull up.

I thought they should have called late hit on carter when he hammered the qb on throw back play.
