There is an old line from a basketball coach, Benny Dees, who said:
"There are 2 things that don't survive. Dogs that chase cars and teams who don't make free throws."
I will add a 3rd-" QBs that cannot read defenses".
So, if the story now is that Perry doesn't/ cant read defenses( whether its that hes not putting in the film time, or just cant) WHY RECRUIT SUCH A QB???
Ive rarely if ever heard of a QB that didn't like to study film that later " matured" and got into that aspect of QB play. By the time a kid is a junior in HS they are watching a lot of film. If Perry was a slacker in that area Richt knew that from the HS staff.
I have NO idea if Perry in fact is a slacker, or Weldon for that matter but why would we bring QBs to this city if they are not serious minded young men who are dedicated to the CRAFT of QB??
So now apparently we have both Weldon and Perry as flat out KNUCKLEHEADS in a town that has plenty of distraction for knuckleheads.
The art of QB'ing has shifted from brawn to more of the brains, and our successful QBs have been brains over brawn: Kosar, Dorsey, Walsh, Kelly.
We all remember Kyle Wright? 5 star out of Cali. All the physical tools you could ask for, but, he could NOT READ a defense.
Why recruit a kid that wont put in the work?

) I fully expect to see this kid go into 'choir boy mode' and become more of a student of the game going forward.
