There is an old line from a basketball coach, Benny Dees, who said:

"There are 2 things that don't survive. Dogs that chase cars and teams who don't make free throws."

I will add a 3rd-" QBs that cannot read defenses".

So, if the story now is that Perry doesn't/ cant read defenses( whether its that hes not putting in the film time, or just cant) WHY RECRUIT SUCH A QB???

Ive rarely if ever heard of a QB that didn't like to study film that later " matured" and got into that aspect of QB play. By the time a kid is a junior in HS they are watching a lot of film. If Perry was a slacker in that area Richt knew that from the HS staff.

I have NO idea if Perry in fact is a slacker, or Weldon for that matter but why would we bring QBs to this city if they are not serious minded young men who are dedicated to the CRAFT of QB??

So now apparently we have both Weldon and Perry as flat out KNUCKLEHEADS in a town that has plenty of distraction for knuckleheads.

The art of QB'ing has shifted from brawn to more of the brains, and our successful QBs have been brains over brawn: Kosar, Dorsey, Walsh, Kelly.

We all remember Kyle Wright? 5 star out of Cali. All the physical tools you could ask for, but, he could NOT READ a defense.

Why recruit a kid that wont put in the work?

He was a solid recruit. Perry's upside is elite. He was an automatic take if he wanted to come here.

Maybe we should all settle down on the kid for a minute.

N'Kosi Perry is 19 years old and has made it thru every day of his life as a winner without too much effort... up til the UVA game. For the first time in his life a professional D coordinator schemed specifically to stop him.... and Perry fell apart, got flustered, & acted immaturely. This is not something that is going to force him to transfer, leave the team, etc... Its a learning opportunity. And interestingly, perhaps the first time N'Kosi Perry has ever faced one.

He's got good teammates and a solid coaching staff around him. (and Jon Richt. :bi-polo: ) I fully expect to see this kid go into 'choir boy mode' and become more of a student of the game going forward.

Some kids learn how to learn earlier than others. He'll figure it out.

The disappointment is he wasted a redshirt year not figuring it out. Now JW is here, hopefully he doesn't waste his redshirt year. This is also why you have to recruit QB every single season. Survival of the fittest

A QB coach with no experience isn’t gonna teach a HS QB to read defenses.

Add in that our QB coach is twenty-something and you see the immaturity and lack of accountability in the QB room from the youngsters.

Richt is really ******* the program over with his refusal to move Jon and hire Ken Dorsey

TIFWIW, but if he is supposed to be in "choir boy" mode, why go post stupid stuff on social media?

Yall talking bout he wasted the year yall dont even know what he was being taught in the film room. I can tell u one thing 95 percent of coaches wouldnt have malik starting at this point even if they had to get a walk on qb that was better. Ed o found a qb after sprinf ball. Yall dont find it strange we have all these 3 and 4 star qb recruits that can go play almost anywhere and they cant beat out a jag like malik.

I stop reading at Jon Richt

The most reasonable post I’ve seen all season.

For Perry's sake, I hope you're right. He's been at the U for over a year and a half teamed with many high character teammates and is still doing some dumb ****. Sometimes, and I hope it's not the case with Perry, some players just don't have "it" (whatever that "it" may be for that particular individual).

Based on the vid he posted last week, perry is just immature. Not sure what a coach can do if a kid just doesn’t get it.
