Qb update days before a starter is decided

i have been pro tate from the beginning but as a canes fans you have to be concerned with this situation. three guys none of whom appear to be good enough to be our starter. clearly not what anyone would have wanted or expected.
Why can't it be that all 3 are good enough to lead the offense, but they are trying to find the best one? Why does it have to negative?

Not really. Going into the 2018 season, 62.5% of 5 star qb recruits from the 2015, 2016, or 2017 class transferred from their original school. That was 5 out of 8, and percentage is probably higher now. Should all those QBs be mocked as not being able to beat out the dude in front of them? Kyler Murray couldnt beat out Kyle Allen to start at A&M. Then after he got his chance to start midway through the season because Allen sucked, Murray ended up getting benched again. What a loser.

Here's an article by some dumbass with the same mindset as those dumping on Martell.

"This isn’t a knock on Murray’s ability as a football player. He had a ridiculous career at Allen High School, going undefeated and winning three state titles as their starter. This is more a question of his ceiling in the sport. It’s likely Oklahoma would be his last stop as a quarterback. Unless he changes positions, no NFL team would take a chance on him to be their guy.

Murray is 5-foot-9, maybe 5-foot-10 on good days. That’s almost enough to eliminate him from the NFL conversation alone. He also doesn’t have the necessary accuracy to make it at the next level."

Yup, he should quit football for baseball because he was too short and inaccurate. That author must have joined this board.

um, i was making the argument FOR sir tathan.

It's laughable, the argument that tater's comparables to K&J are somehow less than. The fact that people are ripping him for "not being able to beat out fields or running away- whatever - as a knock - wherein both K&J couldn't beat out Malik?!

I am putting the trust in ENOS & CMD, but this point makes tate look no worse than the other two on this evaluation alone.

Why publicly name a starter before the game? Just trot the starter out there, whoever it is, for the first series.

Physiological advantage given away by announcing beforehand.

So what are you going to say if Tate wins the QB battle? The guy was sitting behind one of the best QBs in America at Georgia. He was not just some bum freshman sitting behind a guy like rosier.

This is why whoever starts just needs to beat the Gator. Say any QB starts and beats a ranked UF on prime time on the road. You really think anyone clammoring for that very same QB to be benched against Bethune or UNC or Duke is gonna be taken serious?

Beat the Gator.

I'm not going to say Nkosi didn't throw some dimes in that comeback but the defense put him in great position with turnovers and his first half was a big reason we needed a comeback.

Exactly. He stunk it up in the 1st half, then redeemed himself in the 2nd. That’s all you can say about that game.

Brimming with confidence I am!

On a lighter note, Perry's "become more mature and pays close attention when Enos talks" quote is the funniest thing I've read in a while
Saw the video of N'kosi doing extra throws after a practice. Think he might have been the only one. Might have a whole new level of seriousness and focus. Wouldn't be surprised if he wins the job, although I think any one of them could. And I think we could win with any one of the three.

" It seems like all 3 are good sometimes, bad others, and wildly inconsistent."

Why are people so hung up on the practice and scrimmage reports that point out the inconsistencies and flaws? That's the entire point of practice and scrimmage, to see what needs to be fixed.

Go read the practice reports about Fields thus far this offseason. Sounds similar to our QB's reports. Does that mean he sucks too? Bet top QBs around the nation have similar reports. People need to chill.
Some if our most successful QBs, including Vinny, had worse practices than they did games. Most opponents could not match our own defenses.

The reps after practice were mandated by Enos because he f*cked something up in practice. Not because he's voluntarily out working the others. Lol

How can they keep it a secret with media at practice and kids being interviewed daily by the media. Also social media where these kids post stuff. No way it’s a secret up to the game. Too much of a distraction for the team to keep it a secret publicly just to “trick” the gators. Announce the QB on Monday and get ready to roll.

All I can say is NKosi made clutch plays that Jarren, Tate, Malik, or Kaaya wouldn’t have made in that same situation to win that game against FSU.

Handle checks out

What? Rosier had a clutch play the prior year to do exactly that.

Plus the other 3 are easily more talented than him, and you haven’t even seen Tate or Jarren in crunch time. How exactly can you say they can’t make clutch plays?

Pass completion percentage under Richt: Kaaya: 62% ; Kosi : 50%
Martell at OSU: 82%. Martell was 45-0 at BG as a starter.
