Qb update days before a starter is decided

It would not surprise me one bit that all three play against UF in and the guy with the hot hand will stay in the game. That makes it more difficult for UF to prepare and gives all three an equal chance in a game day environment with national exposure.
Jeezus... you seriously believe that gives us an advantage dont you?

Bruh, When the HC accepts a transfer QB who was the #2 QB recruit in the country (that would be considered elite in some circles), it's because he thinks he is getting a starter. If he thought he had a QB on the roster and just wants depth, then he would bring in a good prospect who would be ok with sitting on the bench if is beaten out for the starting gig. Martell transferred because he didn't want to sit another year at OSU.

He's what OSU was saying when he was recruited:

"He's definitely the most prestigious quarterback recruit they've had," said Jeremy Birmingham, a staple of the Buckeyes recruiting beat who reports at Landof10.com. "In terms of hype, you probably have to go all the way back to Terrelle Pryor [in 2008], but he was more of a project."

Just to re-iterate: that was an OSU beatwriter stating that the Martell was the most prestigious QB recruit they have EVER HAD. Manny thought he was getting a starter. If he gets beat out, then that's the way it goes, but there is a big difference between "earning it" and not losing it. If you had to rate the QBs just before game 1 and they were all rated exactly the same, then no matter who you pick, you will be "handing the job" to a guy who didn't earn it. No one separated themselves and someone has to win the tiebreaker. You may not be aware of this, but Manny Diaz, the current HC, was Miami's DC last year. N'Kosi Perry showed his *** (literally) and was suspended twice. Diaz was there for all that. I don't think being on the roster last year endeared him to Diaz. Saying "it's an open and fair competition" is just coachspeak. If you don't think that Manny penciled in Martell as the starter when he accepted the transfer, you are living in fantasyland.

HAHAHAHA...speak slowly so they ALL can follow!

For all we know Diaz and Enos could have their starting QB already. Funny how we, as fans, assume decisions have or possibly not have been made.

Let’s enjoy the ride! 2019 is all new beginnings. #TNM!!

agree 100%. said that yesterday. we don't know sh*t lol

nah, disagree. besides, why martell and not williams? because tate's played against maryland and rutgers? please. if williams shows in practice that he grasps the offense and makes good plays, these coaches will play him. happens all over the country, it can happen here.

Unfortunately all 3 have warts

'He's got a toughness the team respects...'

Awful big words - maybe even Freudian - right there. Particularly in the context of some of the things Manny has articulated since he's first spoken about the position.

Just an observation; because I'm good with whoever - and will take Manny at his word (and be excited), that they're all better than what we had last season.

If you're referring to Martell, what has he done in college for you to say he's better than anyone? Don't give this 1 game against Maryland. No body of work.

You are the one inferring he sucks because he got beat out(or since he was afraid to compete). However, he got beat out by an elite QB. The other 2 got beat out by the worst p5 QB in history.

Listen to what your saying. A guy going into year 3 of a program is afraid he can't beat out a freshman transfer, so he leaves. You basically said he's afraid to compete and came to Miami because we don't have good QBs (I'm paraphrasing).

I think Jarren, and N'kosi have better arm talent. Even if Martell would win the job, I think that #2 guy will take the job at some point in the future because their ceiling is higher. Once that person masters the other areas of being a QB, the sky is the limit. Jarren has 4 years of eligibility and N'kosi has 3. The talent is too good. Once they fully develop, they both will be very good - great QBs.

The great thing is that Martell has forced everyone to get better. Our team should see much better QB play regardless of who wins the job and that includes N'kosi. I've not written him off like a lot of the fanbase has who looks at last year as his ceiling and ready to move on to someone else. Not me.

We'll see who wins the job and then we roll on 8/24. GO CANES!!!!

Being afraid to compete doesn't make you any worse. That is my point. A lot of very good QBs would transfer out when a kid like Fields transfers in. It was a very wise move by Tate because now more QBs are getting denied immediate eligibility because the rule changed. The other OSU QB waited to transfer and now he was denied ability to play this season.

Tate was already in the system at OSU and got ran off by a player in his same graduating class who only ran qb sneaks at UGa. Lol at you making this weak excuse for Tate smh

Rosier had the advantage of being an upperclassmen who was the starting QB on a team that beat all of our rivals FSU, Notre Dame, and Virgina Tech In 2017. If Tate was at Miami last year he would’ve been on the practice squad until he transferred.

Nice facts. Some of these dudes have a weird hatred of Tate for some unknown reason. They are now trying to equate him to Malik just because they’re both short.

And one of the goofballs is railing against Tate’s inaccuracy and pumping up Fields. Didn’t Fields post some horrible accuracy numbers in the Ohio Taint spring game? UbaGA wouldn’t even let him throw the ball when they put him in last year.

I have a funny feeling there’s going to be epic butthurt around here.
