QB Torrance Gibson to play WR

We recruited Gibson for QB he just did not want to come here

Didn't our offer to bring him in as a QB come very late in the game? I thought we had first offered as an athlete/WR, which he didn't want, and then at the end of the recruiting season, we told him he could come as a QB, once we had our recruiting boards filled. At that point OSU had already been selling him on the fake dream of being a highly-sought after QB.

Ah, ok. Was thinking of the wrong one.

We offered him when he was in the 8th or 9th grade. Same with Tim Irvin.

He committed to OSU with 3 star QB's all on the roster, every think maybe he didn't want to play QB? There's no way Urban can lie to him when OSU is returning sucha stacked roster. IIRC, he played receiver in the All-Star game as well. I don't think it was ever about playing QB, the dude just wanted to go to OSU.

Exactly and was a WR on his 7 on 7 teams. **** maybe he got smart and realized he can play right now at receiver. Kid is college ready and will ball this year. Could have easily been second string here but as someone stated earlier his dad was a OSU fan and that's where he wanted to be.

Not true. Jones, Barrett, and Miller are all upperclassmen. He didn't mind waiting for his opportunity but he wanted to play qb and was adamant about playing qb during the process. He waited two years at heritage while playing safety but his end game was always qb. Now at OSU he's practicing at wr, but he most likely believes his end game will still be qb. Once he realizes his money will be made at wr and not qb, he'll stick to that position though.

Besides OSU he was heavily interested in UGA (three heritage teammates and close friends there) but they offered him at wr so he never considered them.

Urban is a genius unlike Fat Al. Everyone but him knows how to recruit. He could of been ours, insane talent snh.

my one friend said that about golden. he said "his problem is he doesn't know how to lie to kids. most coaches tell them what they want to hear to get them to sign their LOI and then change their positions"

I dont think golden should be our coach because, well he sucks at it. But from what ive heard and seen, he seems to be a really good person. Just wish that won us games. Should be fired by November. I hope he proves us all wrong tho.

LOL at you dopes trying to laugh at a kid and imply he is some sort of sucker for playing for the best coach in the country at one of the best football schools in the country. OSU will have more wins before the end of September than Miami will all season but yeah, Gibson will be kicking himself.

Golden cant win for winning. If we win this year it will be because of Kaaya not Golden. Mark it down. YEs, that will be mostly true but who got Kaaya. We havent had a legit QB in a decade so that alone converts to L's. Im no big Golden fan but the guy has been beat down so bad by this site that he cant do anything right and when he does it will be because of someone elses doing not his bc he cant possibly do anything correct.

**** coaches tell them whatever and leave for other jobs after signing day. Its crazy.

Credit for Kaaya is all on Coley.

Would literally Win the national championship every year. Took a ****** osuck team (that lost to Gorlden) and went undefeated the next season. Would've been national champs if not for sanctions. Imagine dat dude with Miami playas.....lawd!

But if Golden lied to him about what position he was being recruited for, everyone would jump on him for being dishonest to the kid. When Urban does it, it was brilliant.

Truth rght here...Lol @ Gibson though hope he makes it to his dream and play in the NFL but it was totally stupid to go way to Ohio State to play WR when he could have played that anywhere
Meh, I have long maintained that it is a problem that Golden isn't willing to lie to a recruit and their family. It is a sign of a coach who is cutthroat and willing to do what it takes to win. It becomes a problem when you compound the lie with terrible coaching and no results to inspire confidence that you are making the best decision for all parties involved. Gibson's parents may be rustled now, but when a tall, super athletic wide receiver is getting drafted instead of a mediocre quarter back trying to hack it in the CFL it will be ok.

I'm not in the business of defending Golden but what you're suggesting wouldn't fly here. The moment Alfredo starts routinely lying to recruits and families the backlash would be beyond ridiculous and not just from the kid's parents. Grandpa Luke would be on Twitter screaming like someone killed his mother. High school corches would be rumored to be banning us from campuses. Even ol' Larry Blustein would be crying foul. The local communities for some stupid reason hold UM to a different standard in recruiting than they do all of these other schools and it's been like that forever. For chrissake, Grandpa Luke once thought he had enough sway to blackmail us into freaking STARTING a kid at QB. I can't even imagine if we started routinely lying to these kids about positions.

I'm pretty sure AL Folden did lie to this kid. I'm almost certain he knew he was getting played by Urban. He just choose the school/coach he wanted.

I relocated this year and resigned from a job. I lied and said I needed to be closer to my family when in fact I just got a better job. Same deal
